In practice this very much is the case, but in principle I think it is in the same category

    Re: Windows Explorer Alternatives

I found the following when I was looking for an alternative to Windows Explorer: 15 Alternatives to Windows Explorer Reviewed. It's years since I first went there.
I would have chosen Opus if it wasn't so expensive. As it is, I went back to Explorer.

Have you tried cleaning out junk on the machine? Often the reason for explorer slow down is plugins that provide useful functionality.

There was a handy tool for viewing this, but I can't for the life of me recall it...

I don't have slow down, it's more advanced synchronization and things like that

    Re: Windows Explorer Alternatives

I'm starting to wish I'd not tried Opus, It is growing on me and I might end up having to buy it when the trial runs out.

    $40 but very good.

Edit: there is a free version, certainly of v6 but I don't know how it compares.

    Re: Windows Explorer Alternatives

There used to be a Dopus 4 style Windows program called PCOpus, it might be floating around still on the net. You also have Better Explorer that adds a Ribbon to Windows Explorer.
