Have Vista Problems been Fixed in Windows 7?

Can the the OEM of Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit be installed on another PC. I would deactivate it on my old PC before installing on a new one.

Have these problems with Vista been fixed with Windows 7?:

I'm looking to buy Windows 7 64-bit from Scan but I was wondering if these Vista problems have been fixed in Windows 7?

    File Naming

Whenever you create a folder or a file, after you press enter to confirm the name, if it's a long file name then the file name will be truncated like this "file nam…" even though the window is large enough to display the whole file name. To get the full name to display you have to go back a window then return.

    Folder Views

In XP I set all folders with pictures in to always show Thumbs and everything else should be list view.

In Vista I try to do the same thing but seemingly at random Vista changes to a different view no matter if the folders contains files or images.

    DOS Games

Can I play old DOS games in Windows 7? I heard about XP compatability mode, what does that do?

    Backups

Does the backup facility in Windows 7 actually work? So can I create a backup image of each partition on my computer to a USB hard drive and if I then format the partition and restore the image, will it restore properly?

No. An OEM licence is tied to a particular PC permanently.

It is impossible to execute 16-bit code on an x64 processor running in 64-bit mode. The design of the architecture allows the old 32/16 bit mode from 386, or the 32/64 bit mode from Athlon64.

To run DOS games, you need a 32-bit DOS emulator like DOSBox, not real DOS, since it's impossible to run real DOS on 64-bit Windows.

I heard about XP compatability mode, what does that do?
Windows 7 Pro comes with a license for Microsoft Virtual PC, and an XP image, downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/vir...download.aspx/

It runs DOS apps as well as you'd expect XP in Virtual PC - i.e. not very well, but better than nothing. Because the emulated PC and emulated OS are 32-bit, you *can* execute 16-bit code there.
