    Email application recommendation

Since setting up my own company running my own business, I decided to go lightweight and use Thunderbird instead of full blown Outlook for email.
All my email accounts are accessed via IMAPS / SMTPS (stored on a Ubuntu server I manage).
Everything in Thunderbird works, but there are a few things that nag me coming from Outlook which I used when an employee (part of a big Exchange system):
    - Addressbook synchronisation over DAV is a bit hit and miss (I'm using the SOGo connector 24.0.2/24.0.3)
    - Foreign language emails are a pain: I use "autocorrect" in Word and Outlook to accentuate my letters when writing in French and cannot seem to find a plugin that works well with Thunderbird.

So are there any other relatively light standalone email client applications you recommend that might fix or provide a better implementation of my main issues above?

    TIA

I'm not sure about address book sync - I don't use IMAP - but check out Becky! Internet Mail. http://www.rimarts.co.jp/becky.htm

I've been using it since 2001 and it's still regularly updated.

I have not used it for a while but Pegasus Mail used to be pretty good.

    Re: Email application recommendation

I used thunderbird. I didn't like it but it's pretty much the best you'll get for free. Got a cheap deal on Office through work and Outlook 2013 really is the daddy - even if you only use it for email.

When I was researching, I was going to try the Windows Live Mail app: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/w...ials=mailother (but never got round to it)

    Re: Email application recommendation

Maybe I need to give Outlook another go. I have a licence for it (bought the whole Office 2013 suite a year or so ago), but just disliked as a matter of (stupid, narrowminded?) principle that I should need a several 100MB app just to do email...

Ahh yes, I remember now: Office has NO free CalDAV integration, which for me is a killer. If there's a way to get it going without having to buy even more proprietary software, I'll give it a try
