Mechanical hard disk? Sounds about right!
I tend to use a symbolic link to make the WIM folder on a RAM disk which speeds it up a lot. The tool that does the patching, DISM, is absolutely brutal on the random read / write operations. Spindle drives hate it!

    RTMF (aka watch the video)

1 Image will only do Home, Home Premium, Pro, or Ultimate. They are actually separate images on the disk, so if you want them all patching, it takes 4 times as long (the all_images one).

If you know you're just going to install "Professional" for example, then you can just patch that one (it asks when you run that batch file). If you want the ISO for your toolkit, then you definitely want all images patching.

It's a pain it takes so long....I always knew that was going to be the case, but it's why I made it 'click and forget' in its operation. Most tools out there don't come close to the ease of this.

i did watch the video but without sound it didn't make much sense. i have the fullest version so that's what i was after. if i do it again i'll run it from SSD. i didn't realise it was going to take that long. i thought it was doing something it had already done, but it sounds like it was patching the different versions

considering you can download everything from MS i wonder why they don't just let you download a fully updated version instead of mucking about like this

Yeah it's infuriating. The digital river servers proved the demand for clean media to reinstall - they should do mini service packs every month with all the updates rolled up.

Glad it worked for you. Thanks for the feedback

    32Bit version is up guys

Currently the 32/64 bit scripts are separate, but I'll make it one package at some point. It was just easier to make it quickly like this. For now, just download the one you want.

I'd LOVE to see this for 8.1 - so many software problems with Corsair Link I have to re install Windows every now and again.

8 isn't really on my 'to do' list right now. Although I have it on 2 machines, I tend to stick to 7. Most of the peoples machines I have to reinstall are 7 too, which is why I made this in the first place.
Maybe in the future....it just takes a lot of time to sort out all the updates and test it.

    Hi Agent,

Just tried the the 32bit version and at the begining when I run option "0" and it looks for the 32bit iso & doesn't find it I get the following instead of the option for it to go download it.:

"The system cannot find message text for message number 0x2371 in the message file for Application"

    Cheers

So I eventually got my Win 7 Pro 32bit ISO made but is it right that there are still 159 updates to be applied (457MB) via Windows update?

Re: How to make a patched Windows 7 64 bit image - with a few clicks! (32bit added)

No. It should be fully patched. Was this the 32bit one?

Regarding the error: Were you running it as admin? Have you renamed cmd.exe? What OS was it under?

Results on Google seem to suggest this is something OS based, and not script related but I'll look into it.

Any chance I can get a bit more to go on? At what point do you get the errors? I just need more to be able to try and find any potential issues

OK but won't be able to do it tonight as I did this at work. However the 1st error I posted about happened at the start of the process. But when it tries to download the updates I can see That that is working and the updates are being written to the correct folder.

Did you see a popup window right after running the 0 batch file? It should have downloaded a bunch of files from MS server. If this part has failed, it might cause this issue - I'm not sure. I'll try to replicate it.
