Freeware repartitioning software

A couple of days ago I decided to move my Battlefield 4 install folder to my SSD, because the map loading times from conventional hard-disk were just abysmal. Unfortunately in order to do so, I need to repartition my SSD so as to make enough space available. Years ago I used 'Partition magic' to do a similar thing, but without having an up-to-date version available, I looked around for a freeware alternative and came up with 'Minitool Partition Wizard Home Edition'.

I have to say, it worked a treat! Very easy to use, & extremely quick too. I'm not affiliated with the company or anything, but it's great to see free versions of software that work so well

Always good to know. Windows 7 has one built-in that works fine too as part of the disk manager.

The windows one is very basic although quite often is enough. Sometimes though you cannot shrink the partition enough and defrag doesn't move stuff from the end of the disk....

The best free utils I've used were EASUS (if you really want to stay in Windows) or a linux live CD.

I have often used EASUS for modifying and creating partitions - there are some software newsletters that give some packages for free - I have BitsduJour, recent release was a hard drive/ssd monitor which helps to check there are no issues with the HD/SSD that may result in data loss. You find similar software packs come up every week or so - I recently got Hard Disk Sentinel Personal.
