Windows 8 Pro and Windows 10

    Hi

Is the Win 10 upgrade only for 7 and 8.1 users?

What if I bought win 8 pro on the cheap, can I upgrade this to 8.1 (like a service pack?), then upgrade to windows 10?

What versions of windows 8 pro were there? Is the Windows 8 pro a full version, where a clean install can be performed?

    Sorry for the silly questions!

    Thanks.

Windows 8 users are entitled to a free upgrade to Windows 8.1, to get this install Windows 8, get the latest Windows updates and then IIRC you should be able to install the 8.1 update through the MS store, though this might have changed to a Service pack so Google would help once you get to that point.

    Thanks KeyboardDemon for the info.

Can anyone confirm whether win 8 pro is a full version or not?

From what I've read, you can download the win 8.1 pro iso using the win 8 pro key, but can this be slipstreamed for a future installation or would I need to install win 8 pro first, then apply 8.1?

Re: Windows 8 Pro and Windows 10

My licence for Windows 8 requires that to be installed before I can install 8.1, yours might allow you to go straight to 8.1. Easiest way to check is when trying to download the ISO/USB installer, if your key allows you to download 8.1 then you are good to go, if not you'll have to download 8 then upgrade to 8.1.

Win 8 is a very quick install, so upgrading one from the other won't take a huge amount of time. You will have to do the same for 10 as I understand it.

Re: Windows 8 Pro and Windows 10

I upgraded from Win 7 pro to Win 10 a couple of weeks ago, the upgrade took around 30 minutes and I must admit im enjoying it more than I did Win 8 and 8.1. They have also made the ISO available for anyone who prefers a clean install rather than an upgrade.
