I keep getting this error; "to play game put in xbox 360 console", couldnt find a fix on the net so thought about sending it back for repair.

My box was manufactured on 19-12-2005 so out of its warranty apparently on the microsoft repair website, I thought they extended it by 3 years? Anyway they tried charging my card over £50 for repairs!

Anyone know what my options are?

The extension only covers the red ring of death as far as I understand it

If you know your 360 really is duff you could force it to overheat (piggy in a blanket!) in the hope that it triggers the RoD. However, I'd guess that they've logged your problem along with the serial number so it might be more trouble han it's worth now.

hmmm might give that a go, I think it shouldnt matter as I didnt submit the problem as it quoted me that repair figure.

My friends console had the same problem on and off for quite a while and his suffered the red ring of death fairly recently. Chances are it will die naturally soon anyway I'd force an overheat to get it sent back asap.

i had this problem, was a mark on disk, took it back to shop and got another one

mate had the same trouble with his, he ended up buying another after a fit of rage from spending over an hour trying to get cod 4 to load
