    HD3850 Problem - Advice Please

    Hi,

Bought HD 3850 from you about 8 weeks ago, along with a coolermaster cosmos, Asus P5k-E, 2.4Gz Intel Quad etc.

Everything's been fine post build until today.

At various times, the display is now showing groups of black vertical lines, the ocasional rewrite error, yellow checkboards, patterns of black or magenta dots, and the white areas of windows are showing various pink patterns which change as you move the window around the screen.

Monitor seems fine (built in menus look normal). Had made no driver changes. Only thing loaded recently was a Cisco VPN. Have now updated to the latest ATI drivers (8.2) - but still have the problem.

Have played with various settings - all make no difference except the colour depth - the higher the depth the worse the problems.

    Temps appear normal - MoBo = 30C, Graphics Card Temp = 46C

Starting to feel like a card hardware fault - what do I do next?

    Thanks for your advice

    Best Regards
    Stuart

Try re-seating the card - take it out and put it back in again. If that doesn't help I would agree that it sounds like a fault with the card itself.

    Hi
    Hmm! does sound like card
Would suggest to either bring it in or send the card to us,
At the bottom of our webpage is 'Returns Policy' click on that, download form, fill and then bring/send with card
As soon as we receive, we will have it checked out by our tech guys

    Regards
    Kul

hi there, any updates with your cards ????

if you haven't sent it back to us yet .... you can run a little test on the card to test it.....

the test software we use is called - ATITool 0.27 beta 4

if you search google you should find it......

install and run it and it will test the card....

    hope this helps

    Hi,

'm afraid the card looks like it has now packed up altogether - its getting very hot and the pc wont now boot at all - immediate BSOD. Have tried reseating the card etc.

Plan to drop the card back to you next time I'm in London

    Best Regards
