BSOD "IRQL not less than or equal" on my new yoyotech PC
Hi,
I bought a lovely new PC from Yoyotech a few months ago (see specs below) and everything was great until a few weeks ago. I keep keep suffering from (seemingly) random blue screen of death crashes with the error "IRQL not less than or equal" displaying and the computer restarting. These crashes sometimes happen every 5 minutes, but sometimes hours will go by without a crash. I'm fairly certain it's not heat related. Crashes seem to happen more when I'm streaming videos on YouTube (I could be imagining this) but I've yet to have a crash while gaming (and I'm playing pretty high-end games like Bioshock and Crysis at full whack). An extensive Google search on this subject helpfully suggested that it could be ANYTHING. I've re-seated all of the hardware and have switched my 4x1GB of RAM about in every conceivable combination (including running with just 3 sticks, and taking a different stick out each time). Windows suggests that perhaps I should upgrade my BIOS. This will be my next step though I'm slightly daunted by the prospect as I've never done it before and it looks complicated. I was also wondering if this would void my warranty with Yoyotech? Any advice would be most appreciated! Re: BSOD "IRQL not less than or equal" on my new yoyotech PC
Update:
I ran Memtest86 overnight and memory checked out OK. Turned on computer this morning, browsing the internet for a minute and bang! BSOD. Exactly the same message. Argh, this is really frustrating! What next? Should I update the BIOS? Would appreciate a response from Yoyotech. Cheers, Sam |
