Re: 3XS Cyclone - Watercooled GTX480!!
Forgot to add, getting load temps of around 80degrees on the GPU under heavy load :)

Perfect for a cup of tea!
On a serious note though; the GPU is not drawing over 300W?
Would you happen to have any benchies; quite interested to know how it does.
Re: 3XS Cyclone - Watercooled GTX480!!
So you've got a 120.2 rad just for the GTX480, and you're still getting temps of 80 degrees under load?! Is that expected? It seems really high to me considering how much cooling potential you have there.

Remember the GPU has been overclocked from 700Mhz to 852Mhz, at standard speeds (700Mhz) it hits early 60s.
We are testing using furmark @ 1920*1200, 16xMSAA Samples, Xtreme burning mode, stability test.
There is a lot of heat being thrown from the top rad, I would say everythings working as it should :rockon2:

Could murder a cuppa now :)
Ill get some benchies across ASAP.
Re: 3XS Cyclone - Watercooled GTX480!!
could I have this done to my silverstone ft01 based sytem which I got from you guys recently, if so how much?

Now that's what we're talking about. Good airflow for the CPU/internals, while that beast of a 480 gets its own treatment and keeping it to 80 during that test is very well done.
The only improvement I can think of is to modify the waterblock so that the connectors are angled 30-45 degrees away from the motherboard - that might just loop the pipes a bit better so that they clear the other expansion slots better.

Hi jjgreenwood,
Thanks for your enquiry.
It is and isn’t possible
It's not really feasible to fit a dual rad in a FT01 case. We could mount a single but I doubt it would be possible to cool a GTX480 overclocked as in the Cyclone. We may get away with it at standard GPU clock speed.
The other way we could do it would be to mount a dual radiator externally at the rear of the case, something similar to this

Won’t look as slick as the cyclone but it would do the job.
The only other thing would be to rebuild it into a totally new chassis.
Re: 3XS Cyclone - Watercooled GTX480!!
thanks pete, I thought that would be the case as I couldn't see where it would go. Its pretty quiet in the case anyway so I don't think there's much point if the oc can't be achieved. Am just looking for some more fps in 3d games which on some dip down to the 20's.
If I put another 480 into it will the heat and noise go up significantly bearing in mind they'll have to sit next to each other? I really like the case so don't want to change it.

Hi jj,
It all depends which motherboard you have in your system. To have as much a chance as possible to keep the noise and heat to a minimum there needs to be at least 1 slot space between the cards. If your system uses the Asus P6TD Deluxe there will be space between the two cards. That way it'll give the cards a chance to breath :)
You'll also have to bare in mind the power requirements for 2x GTX480's and an overclocked CPU.
Food for thought ;)
Pete
Re: 3XS Cyclone - Watercooled GTX480!!
hmm I have an asus p6t premium and there isn't enough space as far as I can see to mount the boards with a space in between.
Lol they come with rubbing strips so they must be ok next to each other :geek:
may have to think about the watercooling option with 2 in sli and that external cooler, it doesn't look cheap though, upgrading my 22" monitor to a 1920x1080 so will see what that does to my games first.
Power supply is hx1000 which I assume is adaquate

Spoil yourself......1920x1200 is where it’s at, you'll regret not having that extra bit of real-estate :)
If you're thinking of 2x 480's in SLI you'll have plenty of horses to push to higer res :rockon2:
Regarding the watercooling there's the external option as above or maybe something similar to this
http://3xs.scan.co.uk/BuildPhotos/3X.../ext_rad_1.JPG
or maybe swap the case to a TJ07, it'd be a neater option. Something like this It's similar external design to the fortress but on a larger scale.
I'm sure we can help out whatever you decide.

.
i'd love to but with 3d its only 1920x1080 available
external watercooling looks interesting I'll prob upgrade monitor this month and then poss 2nd 480 next month and if it does turn into something sounding like a vacuum cleaner sort out some watercooling then
thanks pete
Re: 3XS Cyclone - Watercooled GTX480!!
Just a quick update ;)
We've reduced the price of the 3XS Cyclone by a massive £100 :rockon2:
Re: 3XS Cyclone - Watercooled GTX480!!
