    Re: Malcolm's - 3XS Black Widow

Wow, that really is a beauty - I'm a big fan of well-made air-cooled systems.

Certainly made full use of the front bays - nice optical arrangement along with the fan controller and X-Fi panel, and I'm assuming those are Noctua fans dotted around the case.

Can we have a full spec list in this thread please?

Ooooh, I like those SATA cables, what are they?

Oh no, just realised, that almost sounds like, "Ooooh, I like your shoes........"

You replaced the chassis fans with Noctua? Did you replace the HUGE ones at the top? At the risk of looking Chav like I did quite fancy lit fans at the top, but didn't know if anything would actually fit?
Core i7 920, Asus P6T, 3x2 1333 DDR3, Vista x64, Ageing 8800GT (Next upgrade!), Adaptec 1430SA with 4x500 gig HD (2x RAID 0 and 2x RAID 1), Blu Ray rewriter, 1TB HD for data, housed in Cooler Master ATCS 840 awaiting water cooling with Corsair HX1000 PSU, Microsoft Habu and Reclusa, 22" and 17" TFT.

    Smile Re: Malcolm's - 3XS Black Widow

Apologies for not responding to Snooty Jim's request for spec's sooner relating to Malcolm's(thats me) Black Widow but here they are:
    ATCS 840 case containing the following:-Asus Rampage II Extreme X58,Intel core i7 920 2.66 overclocked to 3.6GBwith a Noctua NH-U12P-E Heat Sink
    Corsair 1000HX PSU.Corsair 6GB1600 Dominator memory.
    2 1792MB XFX GTX295 DDR3 Graphic cards.
    1 80GB Intel2.5i MLC Client SSD(Operating Sys Vista Ultimate)
2 OCZ 120GB Sata2 Vertex series SSD's in '0' Raid Array for FltSimX.
    640WD Sata2 SE16 with 5 partitions for various,apps, back-up,temp folders etc.
    2 Pioneer DVD Drives.
    1 LG GGW-H20L Blue-Ray Burner.
    Akasa Black Card Reader.
System is cooled by 3 230mm Coolermaster fans,4 Noctua NF-P12 Vortex 120mmfans and then silenced by AcoustiPack side linings and bay blocks.
Finally sys is connected to 3 Dell 2408WFP monitors by a TripleHeadToGo Digital System.
The sys is cool under load, very quite and extremely fast.As you can see from the pics posted here Ricks build is very professional and neat.
I thank Philip for his excellent advice on my choice of components and Paul for all his help.
So gentlemen if you want a handbuilt computer I can thoroughly recommend Scan!!

    Re: Malcolm's - 3XS Black Widow

    Hi Malcolm,

I know I'm bringing up an old thread, but I came across this doing searches for cable management. I recently bought this case and am in the middle of putting it together.

What are those black cable holders that you've used and where can I get those? I've put red arrows pointing to them in this picture:

    Re: Malcolm's - 3XS Black Widow

    Hi faraz1729

I have these in my system too

From searching Scans site I can only find white versions

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/100pc...ral-19-x-19-mm
    and
    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/100pc...ral-25-x-25-mm

You just need some cable ties to wrap into them and around your cable

    Hope that helps
    Recon

    Re: Malcolm's - 3XS Black Widow

Pardon the n00b question, but I have the same fan controller as above ... how do I install it? It came with screws, but where do I put them in? I can make out the holes where it should be lining up on the side of the drive bays, but it seems hard to get a screwdriver through there. Also, would I need washers and nuts?

Far-out suggestion and all, but have you tried reading the instructions?
