    I am happy now, prime95 pass @ 6hours @2.9ghz 2.5,3,3,6-1t and also superPi pass at 1m/32m.

no to reinstall all my software now

Yes I appreciate that, what I meant was that at the moment I'm still trying to see if it'll get past the first bios boot screen! Obviously I don't need all devices in for that. I'm no where near testing for stability yet, of course I will test that when I've sorted my OC'ing problems.

    Here we go:

    Antec SLK3700 Case
    Antec TruePower 430w PSU
    Asus A8N-SLi Premium (1009 Bios)
    Opteron 146 (CABYE 0540FPBW)
    Gigabye G-Power Cooler Pro HSF
    OCZ 2gb (2 x 1gb) PC3200 "Performance Series" RAM
    Sapphire X800GTO2 (PCI-E)
    Audigy 2 ZS
    1 x SATAII Samsung Spinpoint 80GB
    1 x SATA Seagate 250gb
    1 x IDE Seagate 200gb
    1 x IDE LG DVD-RW
    1 x IDE Pioneer DVD

I've tested with bare bones and it's exactly the same issue, so it's more than likely not a power problem.. at least I think not :/

    hiya m8, first things first.

1, drop ur mem to 100mhz, thats DDR200. put ur cpu at 10x, start the HTT at 260. LDT at 3x, Vcore at 1.4v, LDT voltage @ 1.3v, dram at 2.8v, chipset @ 1.7v.

now go to superPi test at 32m, if it passes go to prime for >4hrs. if thats stable crank up the HTT by 10/15 mHz, and repeat teh tests until superPi has an error, then lower the HTT by 1 -5, repeat until superPi can do 32m.
then go to prime95 >4hours, if it doesnt pass then crank it down by 1-5mhz, then prime again until stable.

if its stable >4hoursu found ur max cpu mhz.

    now for mem.

1, lower ur cpu to 7x, same voltages. ram at 1:1 at relax timings say 2.5-4-4-8 or lower start at 260HTT. now goes to memtest86+ and test the ram on test 5 (20passes) test 8 (5 passes) if it passes then test using superPi 32m if stable move to prime, like u did for the cpu.

then u found ur max mem. then combine it to ur max cpu speed. using dividers if nesscary to get ur max speed.

I know it takes the biscuit doing the tests but u need to test and test and test.

I did this this weekend all weekend and its paid off. as you u can see on my pic above.

you may need to tweak your mem as well.

but its all worth it, as my cpu is stable as fook now.

    phil

once you found ur max mem.

Got a 146 CABYE 0540 FPAW as well - only stable at 2.950 but thats down to the mobo having low max volts and also undervolting - the most I can get to it is just under 1.55 - little bit more and it'd be fine although don't think it'll go any further. New mobo should sort it.

I'm still struggling away to battle my problem... still not able to boot anywhere near 250htt or above even with the slackest of memory timings at 2T. Ordered some new RAM as a stab in the dark.

I see I am not alone in needing to dive my 146 some fairly large volts to get near stable at 3Ghz, I ended up setting 1.300v + 126% = 1.638 (1.584-CPUZ) just to get it stable enough to run sandra, super pi and 3D03 benchies.

Temps got to around 50c, so Ive gone back to my "normal" setting of 305x9 = 2745Mhz, for which I use 1.4 v. will see if I can get this to 2800Mhz, stable soon.
Can't complain, its certainly capable, and its virtually a FX57 speed for £110!
    nice
