Abit IN9 32X OCZ SLI MEM ISSUE.....Bios settings

    Hi

Have set up this board with some SLI 8500 SLI ready MEM with EPP.

    product OCZ2N1066SR2GK.

the problem is with Bios 1.0 (first release) system is stable and i get mem working at 5-4-4-12@ 2.1v and at 1066mhz.

Now if i update to bios version 1.1 or any beta bios, the system just will not hold bios setting after manual configuration. On every reboot im greeted with Checksum error defaults loaded.
Now when i do the cmos clearence after flash im doing it via the jumper and removal of battery so is a proper CMOS clear. On first bios change after flash i just load safe defaults and f10 out, but straight away bios error.

I had a look on the Abit USA forums and there are a few people with the same memory and same problem (it seems just to be with EPP memory)

If they werent down again i would provide the thread link. whats going on at abit at the mo?

Is this a known issue at Abit? Somthing is triggering the bios just to checksum all the time, no matter what i change it has no effect, just checksum defaults loaded.

Go back to bios 1.0, and everything is perfect again. what is happening?

There seem to be a lot of problems with EPP and NF6, not just limited to Abit.

I have almost identical memory(part no ends SR1G instead) and it simply wont hold it's EPP defaults on my Asus 650i board, seen quite a few posts on other forums with similar problems. Stick in a non EPP pair in and it'll do 1066 no problems, and vice versa stick these sticks in a 965 board and their good way beyond 1066.

Thanks for that, considering its a feature of SLI boards you think an effort would of been made to insure it works properly.

Ahh well, i think this may be my last Nvidia based board. I might jump to the new intel chipsets if this issue is not resolved in time. I loose SLI but then intel tends to be a bit more stable in my experience.

In my experience NForce boards always have teething problems but at the best in the long term. Abit seem to be a bit faster of the mark than ASUS with beta bioses at least, so good luck with that.

Just tried the latest beta bios .12 and while it seem to fix the USB mouse, keyboard issues ie you can now set setting in bios to either Bios or OS and all works properly. (tthats if you had the setting it to bios boot problem.

Bad news is its still fecking up the SLI memory.
