    That's it !!!!

I have done the romeo9 solutions (step 2)

    - I used a floppy disk I had to install it on my ANTEC Fusion (neet box for a HTPC)
    - I build a boot dos disk (from the abit site, everything is well explain),
    - put the 1.4 BIOS on it
    - I boot on it, load the BIOS, reset the CMOS,

and my home Theater PC is working fine again ...

    Thank's for the help romeo9

    Shame on Abit

    Hello people

I fell in love with FPS games, especially Halo - Combat Evolved.

My current PC (P4, 2.8GHz) doesn't allow to play in higher resolution than 600x800, eye candies lowered and still not smooth at all.
Many PC games don't even bother to install, because my on-board video has only 64MB shared memory and no shader 3.0 , AA, ect ... (Intel 82845)

    I need a Monster PC
    ------------------------

After having a good look around, my researches result in ...

    CPU: Core2Quad, Q6600 _________________________ £ 163.99 .... (compared to core2duo, E6600 for £ 136.76, well worth to pay the extra)
Mainboard: Abit Fatal1ty F-190HD __________________ £ 71.22 .... (there are only very few micro ATX boards on the market)
    Memory: OCZ 2x 2GB, PC2-5400, 667 Mhz ___________ £ 125.69 ... (very good price for 2GB modules)
HardDrive: Wester Digital Caviar SE16 WD5000AAKS ___ £ 77.69 .... (had very good experiences with WD in the past)
PowerSupply: Ezcool 550W ________________________ £ 15.37 .... (I know some don't like this one, but PS in shelf PCs are worse)

... later ... Graphics Card: GeForce 8800 GTS __________ under £ 200.- (if you're serious with PC games, don't go lower)
    (July 07)

Do you know by any chance if the OnBoard Video of the Abit one would be any better ... for the time being ?
    Radeon Xpress 1250 (RS600) ... X700 equivalent ... 512MB shared memory ... well, I guess not much.
And would Vista (once the board is fixed) run well enough ?

... and suddenly I slipped over this threat (thanks google) ... and what can i say: oh dear ! __

I never thought the situation could be that bad with Abit, having read every single entry ... I changed my mind now.
I'm planning to get a real good PC for more than 6 months - saving every penny for the same time.

The big day should have come sometimes next month ... in August.
Well, that won't happen now anymore ... will have to wait again ... gosh, that sucks ! ... really devastating.

I don't like big ... I like small .... so micro ATX would be the only choice ...
Haven't found any PC case I like yet though ... all super-ugly or far too chunky.
Seen some nice cases at PC Supermarkets, but they are all of complete PCs ... ts ts ts

Oh, before I forget ... if Abit manages in the near future (yes, still this life pls) ... to fix this problem properly ... I might get it finally ... read that the board has HDMI ...but no HDCP ... can you confirm that ?
It might become a big problem when watching HD content in the future I think.
Has something to do with a standard Video card, Monitor and Drive have to have ... otherwise: blank screen.

Well, anyway ... if you could let me know what you think / could suggest an alternative, that'd be very good

Ok, so my PC suddenly stopped working yesterday. I get a long (2-3 seconds) repeating beep and the screen stays black. Why doesn't Abit put the bios beep codes in the manual anymore?

I've tried reseating my memory, processor, etc. Nothing helped. Though google I found that continous long beeps means a memory seating problem, is this true? I also tried running on one memory module in all four slots, but this didn't help either. Inserting no memory module gave one continous beep.

Mine is also driving me crazy. It is probably a bit more stable then yours I think, but it still occasionally freezes (have to press the reset button) when playing any kind of video (divx/xvid/h264). Sometimes this happens multiple times a day, and then it doesn't happen for a few days.

I have also used bios 13 and 14, running XP with a Q6600, 2x1GB A-sata 4,4,4,12 and a nVidia 7900GT. PSU is a 430W BeQuiet and all the rails seem ok, so I don't think it's a power problem. I've also had Memtest run for 24 hours with no errors.

it's probably not a good idea to post your address openly, take it to PM or email Sean.

Normally they come with the latest BIOS revision.

    Hi,

the chip that you're sending me. Is it possible for it to be programmed with the latest bios software?

The reason i updated the bios is because of a shut down problem, i am running windows vista ultimate and when i shut it down it goes past the vista shut down screen and then just gives me a blank screen. If i restart or shut it down by pressing the button it acts like a normal restart. Have you any suggestions when i get my new chip and whethere it will fix the shut down issue?

    Thanks,

    William Beeching
