Re: **Official ABIT AB9 QuadGT Review/Overclock/Guide Thread**
If it is of any help to anybody.
Bios 16 is out and fixes a problem with front audio(Support the pin definition of Front Audio adjusting function).
Along with R175 sound driver it is the first time I have managed to get front audio on Vista 64bit since I installed it.
Although front audio has always worked under XP.

Yes... but beware the AHCI bug is back... so if you are using AHCI, RAID and want to boot from SATA optical you can't. The ever helpful Richh has posted a 'fixed' version over on the abit USA forum - I have been using Richh BIOS's on my QuadGT and they are good.

Re: **Official ABIT AB9 QuadGT Review/Overclock/Guide Thread**
Hi !
Long time since I posted anything here. I am using the OCZ Crossfire edt RAM, and have been using them since May. They do what OCZ says it will, but not much more. They practically does´nt OC at all. And since I would like to go further with OC´ing, I have decided to try another type of RAM. Whit a bit of luck, in a few days I should recieve 2x1Gb Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC2-8500 cas5 sticks. I am quite looking forward to see, how these will perform. I chose them on behalf of a number of good reviews, and they should be OC-friendly. I know they are stated as cas5´s, but according to reviews they should be quite happy running cas4 at 1000MHz, at least. Well, I will post more, when I have them in the board, and have been playing a little with them...:naughty:
But ! The real reason that I would post today is... I have a question ! I would like to have one of the Uguru-clocks, there are 3 versions that I am aware of. But will any of them work with AB9 QuadGT ? That would be really nice to know, that it would work on the board, before ordering. They are not that expensive, but since it is more of a fun "show-off" kind of thingy, it would be a bumber to waste the money.:wallbash: So, anybody know FOR SURE, if the uguru-clocks works on the AB9 QuadGT ?

there are (afaik) 2 clocks & 1 panel.
The GC-02 & GP-02 were designed for use with the 2nd generation uGuru chip & the QuadGT uses the 3rd.
What that means is that the hardware feed should work fine but the software that was used for email alerts etc. probably won't.
The GC-03 was designed for use with the 3rd generation uGuru chip & as such everything should be compatible.
Re: **Official ABIT AB9 QuadGT Review/Overclock/Guide Thread**
Thanks for the quick reply, BUFF, and the good news. Guess I will have to try the 03 then.
Re: **Official ABIT AB9 QuadGT Review/Overclock/Guide Thread**
I am using 3 uGuru Clock GC-02 units on three AB9 QuadGT based systems. Works great, Only £9 brand new off eBay.
AFAIK the GC-03 never actually made it to the UK market, and is now discontinued.... so you will be lucky to find any (I could not hence settling for the GC-02 which I could actually get).

Re: **Official ABIT AB9 QuadGT Review/Overclock/Guide Thread**
Well, you can add Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC2-8500 CL5 to the RAM-list. Works fine, and no problems what-so-ever when I started the machine up. I have been tweaking a little (Not getting quite serious yet), and they are currently running at 550.5MHz 5-5-5-12, set the voltage to 2.2 in BIOS, but according to uGuru they get 2.16, so maybe I should give them a wee bit more juice.
Re: **Official ABIT AB9 QuadGT Review/Overclock/Guide Thread**
I bought this card only seven months ago at a highly inflated price in Denmark. Now Ive heard that Abit are not going to bother releasing a bios update for the new E8XXX cpus. So Ill be buying a new motherboard soon but Ill guarantee it wont be an abit.

7 months ago it had already been replaced by the IP35 Pro.
I don't know about the price in Denmark but in the UK it was considerably cheaper than e.g. the Asus Commando (& a better board into the bargain).

We'll see, they might surprise us.
Having said that with all the problems with E8xxx CPUs atm on various manufacturer's mobos it's not a big loss imo.
Re: **Official ABIT AB9 QuadGT Review/Overclock/Guide Thread**
Just a note to say thanks for the link to the abit forum (richh's 16a bios update) - I too now have front panel audio working with Vista x64 (after getting the missing cable from a very helpful chap over at Akasa).

I wrote Abit a week or two ago, asking wether they would release a bios update for the AB9 QuadGT supporting the new CPU's. The answer was, that there will be a bios update, but they couldn't say when.

Re: **Official ABIT AB9 QuadGT Review/Overclock/Guide Thread**
I can see on the Universal abit USA Forum that a new beta bios for the AB9 QuardGT is on the market giving support for 45nm processors.
Have anyone tried out this beta release?
Do to my few posts on this forum I am not allowed to post a link to the bios.

Re: **Official ABIT AB9 QuadGT Review/Overclock/Guide Thread**
if you've followed the thread on abit USA then you will know that someone has tried it & reported that it worked.
Re: **Official ABIT AB9 QuadGT Review/Overclock/Guide Thread**
Well, still no luck tracking down a GC-03... Well, I can find them on Ebay, but not a one, willing to send it to Denmark. BUU-HUU!!!! Life is´nt fair. On the other hand, GREAT news about 45nm support on our board. I would really. really, REALLY like to play around with E8400.... But I could´nt wait, so now I´m expecting a Q6600 G0 SLACR in the mail, any day now... So 45nm will have to wait a while.
Re: **Official ABIT AB9 QuadGT Review/Overclock/Guide Thread**
Ohh yes. I'm also looking forward to play with a E8400 om my board. Now I just have to wait for the stores in Denmark to recieve the processors.
