    QuadGT Heatpipe TIM

The Thermal past on the single copper cooler on the ICH8R did not have very good coverage, one whole corner - about 1/3rd the area was bare, so I have removed it, clesned it and replaced with AS5.

The heatpipes for the P965 and power regs have a thick padlike plasticky TIM - is this OK or should it be replaced for better cooling, and is AS5 too thin for this?
Try to make each and every day the best it can be.

DO NOT replace the rubber sticky compound that goes over the PWM's you can potentialy ruin your board with this. Best way is to AS5 the NORthbridge and SOUTHbridge only!

Remember the northbridge is a NAKED CORE so you only need about the size of grain of rice of as5 on the core.

Thank you... I only ever put the thinnest layer possible (e.g. the grain of rice) of AS5 to achieve coverage.

However the P965 (NORTHbridge?) also has a very thick rubbery pad, and this seems to me to be way too thick to replace with AS5, unless I increase clampting pressurs?

Maybe aftermarket replacements might be a better idea? I shall be using a Tuniq Tower HSF.
