    Abit FP-IN9 boot problem

    Abit FP-IN9
    E4300
1 GB RAM Kingston Value 667
    XFX 7800GT
    Vantec 460W

Tried boot with only this. Leds power on, fans works. But no boot, black screen.
    Things I tried:
    Other PSU
    Other RAM
    Modify slot of RAM
Modify position of the SLI/normal mode card
    Reinstall CPU

    No results.

VGA and CPU working in other systems.

Any idea before I RMA the motherboard ?

    Thanks in advance.

I trust you did the basics i.e plug the hsf fan into the power socket on the m/b?

if so it looks like you have tried everything mate, have you CLEARED the CMOS also??????

Yes, I plug the fan into the mb... And I cleared the CMOS.

    Well, looks like a RMA.

Tried a 12 hour clear cmos. It works !

I don´t understand, since 20 seconds must be ok... I tried 5 minutes two times before, at same conditions, all things unplugged, no results.

    Anyway, it´s ok now.

Aye, it's a tempramental beast. Thought this only happens when I've done a mad extreme O/C. Like 2.7GHz on an E4300 and original BIOS.

If possible update to the latest BIOS and try again
That's if you can actually ever boot, of course :S

    Worthless motherboard

I got one and had to RMA it because it wouldn't power up. It's replacement got power but wouldn't boot on occasions, had to reset cmos. I complained to Abit support, after trying the latest bios. There tech support sent me a bios not even listed on the web site. That worked well for around two months - it wont boot now. Kicked the battery out and waiting to try boot again in an hour. I WILL NEVER BUY ABIT AGAIN

I still own an IC7MAX3 board. It's the best in its day and totaly reliable up to now, I bought Abit back in the day of P3 and P2. What's wrong with them now?

it's the nF6xxi chipset - I don't think that there is 1 board using them that doesn't have issues of some kind or another.
On the other hand abit's QuadGT & P35 boards are comparable to any produced & better than most.

I guess you are right, I just lost it again with the FPIN9 and tried another one. I am advising clients to stay away from the NV 650 chipset.

there was a review the other day of the FP-IN9 & the MSI P6N Platinum (supposedly 1 of the better 650i SLIs) & they weren't overly impressed by either.
