    an8 ultra cpu upgrade

    currently have an opty 146 running at 2500 would it make any difference running a AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core just noticed that the board will take them?

    depends how much multitasking you do or whether you run apps that can use both cores.

    no general desktop no heavy games or video editing, just looking for it to run faster

    Are you overclocked? You should get at least 2.8GHz imo out of an AN8 Ultra/146 if you have good cooling etc..

    Decided to upgrade the board, thanks for all the help, Buff is the ip35 pro still looking the best M\b at the moment (was going for a quad gt but decided to wait for the ip35 pro)

    The IP35 Pro looks to be an excellent mobo.
    I'm not convinced that you'll notice the difference if you're just browsing etc. though.

    need to change to ddr2 and get some more memory so considered that i may as well upgrade the lot
