Fatal1ty F-I90HD audio problems - Optical

I'm having problems with the sound through optical output.

I've tried drivers from the CD, abit and realteks website. I formatted the HD everytime different drivers were used.
Analogue audio works OK and there is light coming out of the optical lead. The lead has been tested with an xbox and is shown to be functioning fine.
Audio properties seem to all be in order as well (spdif etc) as these were checked with another persons working setup. I have no other problems with the system which is running XP pro.

I'm not sure if I'm missing something silly out, but thought this would function without too much hassle 'out of the box'.

Any suggestions welcome

What are you connecting the output to?

A PURE Digital - Digitheatre Platinum system. The optical in on the system functions fine as it was tested with an xbox using the same lead (as used on the HTPC)

There are only 2 real settings. One is in the realtek sound manager, make sure that the digital option is set to output through digital audio source. The second is the windows sound properties, make sure this is set to realtek HD audio.

These are my properties. If these are all correct is there any other way of testing the output? Thanks

What software are you running in the background of that image?

Graphedit. It shows which codecs/filters the audio passes through and enables you to easily look through their properties.

All your settings seem to be correct and I can see no reason why you have no sound.

There are only a few possible problems

1. The motherboard will not work with your Digitheatre Platinum DTS. (Very doubtful)
2. Software setup incorrectly. (Looking through screen shots I can't find any problems)
3. You have a faulty motherboard.

Do you have any other devices you can connect the motherboards optical port?

Can the optical be used as an input? I tried outputting sound from both my xbox and CD player to the HTPC without success
