Abit AN-M2HD motherboard Pioneer BDC-S02BK SATA not working

Abit AN-M2HD motherboard Pioneer BDC-S02BK SATA not working

I can access a part of the CD/DVD but then the system freezes. I tried Vista 64 & XP 32bit. Results the same. Must be something with SATA or controller.

Tried BDC-202 also with an Intel MB - no problem, BDC-202 works.

    Any help?

    Best Regards,
    Alex.

I think it is a Sata Controller problem. I had issues similar to your (Not an Abit board) and it was the sata controllers. Nothing i could do about it so i swapped to using IDE again.

I believe that pioneer were looking into the issue as the problem is not just on abit motherboards.

    Hello ABIT Sean!

Do u kow if there will be support for the BDC-202 blueray drive in updated BIOS for this MB soon?
I have tested the new one r15 BIOS from oktober, but with no success.

Or do I have to change my MB to a non htpc MB. Because it seems that all MB made for the HTPC market does not function with the Pioneer BDC-202, really wierd.

Really hopes for a solution to this problem soon!

    Best regards, Peter in Sweden.

The issue is with pioneer and not the motherboard. It maybe possible that a future bios update may fix this issue or more than likley pioneer will have to release new firmware for there drive.

Has anyone tried plugging the drive in via SATA to IDE converter?

I can confirm that the latest bios does not fix this issue. There is a beta bios being developed that I should fix the compatibility problem.

    Hi

I bought this combination last week and found exactly the same problem yesterday

Sean - How long do we have to wait for a beta BIOS update. I need to decided if to return the BDC and purchase an alternative - any recommendations?

    Regards

    Dave

Re: Abit AN-M2HD motherboard Pioneer BDC-S02BK SATA not working

    Hi Sean

Nope that BIOS update was a disaster!

The system simply will not boot if the BDC is attached to the motherboard. Witout it, fine, it will boot from the hard disk but fails to boot from either the DVD or Hard disk no matter which is the primary boot device.

    Back to the drawing board!

    Regards

    Dave

Re: Abit AN-M2HD motherboard Pioneer BDC-S02BK SATA not working

s the nice people at Amazon delivered 2 blu-ray disks today I had to find a way of watching them.

So I attached the BDC to a SATA to USB to see what would happen.

Unfortunately on the Abit motherboard exactly the same and have this message in the device manager

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

This is exactly the same message when attaching the BDC directly to the MB via the SATA cables

So off to try another PC
