    ABit motherboards and 7950GX2

Currently I've been looking at the possibility of getting hold of an Nvidia Geforce 7950GX2 (very cheaply) an now I'm looking for a compatable motherboard (again cheap as possible)

On the Nvidia website it lists compatable mother boards
    http://www.nvidia.com/content/geforc...sortBy=chipset

The Abit AB9 Pro is listed as compatable with BIOS version 11
Now this is quite a nice board, Although I don't really like the layout, esp the IDE and flopy ports.
I was just wondering if any of the other Abit 965chipset boards would also be commpatable with a 7950gx2?
EG would the standard AB9 work or the IB9

Just noticed that the Abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLI is also listed as compatable, but I've never fully trusted anything with the Fatal1ty branding.

The AB9 Pro is an older model. Have a look at the AB9 Quad GT or the IP35 series.

    Thanks Sean,

However are they compattable with the 7950GX2 graphics card?? (I'm currently hopeing to pick one up for around £100)

The Quad GT is just over £100 what is a little too pricey, I'm trying to keep costs as low as possible.

The IP-35E @ £65 would be far better intrems of price but again does it support the 7950GX2 ?

just looked at the web site ( why do we never look up info before asking someone else )
Under the IP35 & IP35-E compatable card it does list
    Leadtek WinFast PX7950GTX2
So it should be ok with a evga or xfx model 7950gx2 ?

I would think so - there are just too many different components around for them to test every conceivable variation.

    MSI P55-GD80, i5 750
    abit A-S78H, Phenom 9750,

    Re: ABit motherboards and 7950GX2

They are almost always 100% the same, electronically.
OEM's stick their logos on it, wack a HSF on it, place it in a pretty box....and thats about it

The question you should be asking is why wouldn't it work?
Any issues you have with incompatibility's are almost always software related. Manufactures just don't deviate from the specifications that ensure devices work together without a very good reason
