IP35Pro wont stay on, was working fine?
Hi all, new here. I recently put together a new system...
IP35 pro
Q6600, no overclocking
2*1gb Patriot ddr2-800 4-4-4-12
GeForce 8800 GTS 640 MB
Corsair HX520W power supply
Stock fan
Had a few issues getting it going, had to raise memory voltage, but since then it's been solid as a rock for the last month and a half, plenty of gaming etc.
Suddenly yesterday it turned itself off half way though the boot process. Since then whenever I try to turn it on it turns itelf off at random, never staying on more than a minute. If I keep turning it back on it lasts less and less until it's off almost instantly. The LED reads 98 quickly then 99 when it shuts down.
I've seen a few other posts around with similar issues and have tried resetting the ROM & rebooting several times, wobbling the fan, checked all the connections, removed all usb, drives, memory etc, nothing's helped.
I'm out of ideas, any one got any suggestions? Not got another system to test anything with so have no clue how to figure out if it's the board, the power (but lights stay on), memory etc...
Cheers,
Adam

Oh well, so much for support, 2 days and none of the official Abit moderators on the official support forum have even bothered to reply. Guess I'll be taking it back for a refund and buying an Asus or something instead, shame.
:angst:
Re: IP35Pro wont stay on, was working fine?
Maybe send an email direct to their tech support. Or buy an Asus, like you say. :-/
Re: IP35Pro wont stay on, was working fine?
see if the heatsinks come loose
Re: IP35Pro wont stay on, was working fine?
Perhaps step back and try just the one stick of memory in the 4th slot. Get into the BIOS and check everything is how it should be, especially memory volts.
I have an IP35 Pro, and it has been great so far - I hope it doesn't do this!!
Good luck with it - please keep the thread up-to-date with your progress as I'd be interested to see what the problem is :)
Re: IP35Pro wont stay on, was working fine?
Sorry for the delay I have been monitoring the thread and I will try my best to help.
Your problem could be caused by either heat or voltages. Are you able to get into the bios or does the system power off too quickly?
Re: IP35Pro wont stay on, was working fine?
Hi all, sorry for being grumpy but this has come out of the blue and made the computer completely unuseable, and this was quite a pricey board that had nothing but good reviews.
I've tried all the suggestions so far, reseated the heat sink (it's rock solid, no movement if I try to wobble it), tried it with just one dim in each of the slots (even with no memory in) etc. Same thing each time.
It does seem like a heat thing, if I leave it for a day then try it it will last for maybe 30 seconds, then if i try again straight away 20, then 10, then 5 etc. Leave it for a minute and I'll get another 30 seconds. But I'm doing this is a cold room with an open case, and everything remains cold to the touch and isn't on long enough to really heat up. All the fans are working and clear of dust.
I sometimes get into the bios, and if I'm quick I can set a few things, but everything seems fine (I've reset it several times) and nothing seems to make any difference, it will happily shutdown while I'm in the bios too.
When it shuts down I get that kind of loud mechanical clunk that sounds like the board is shutting the power down, rather than when you just cut the power, and the lights remain on on the board, so I'm pretty sure it's not a power issue. The post LEDs on the board also quickly cycle from 98 to 99, so it does seem to be choosing to shut the machine down for whatever reason.
Re: IP35Pro wont stay on, was working fine?
Have you tried another PSU just incase?

Sorry that I am late replying, I am on a great many forums, other than this one, and lots of projects going on at the moment.
Ok as the other user has mentioned test one module of ram at a time on its own to see if that is the problem. It is not the PSU as I have the corsair HX620. I personally reviewed this board, and it is a great system, however I t does look like something is amiss here. Test the ram, I trust you have the CPU FAN connector to the CPU fan header?
I will commincate with you on a basis of this. I have the same board and a q6600 on WC cooling. Pm me and i will endevour to answer any questions there or here.

Re: IP35Pro wont stay on, was working fine?
Hi again,
I don't have any other bits to test with, so can't try another supply or memory etc.
I tried last night again putting just one dim in one slot, tried each slot one by one, still happens. swapped the dim and tried again in each slot, still happens.
Looks like I'm going to be taking it back tomorrow, will let you all know what the YoYo peeps say.

It is not the PSU as I have the corsair HX620.
Not being funny but just because you have one it doesnt make it any less likely to be faulty.

Agreed
but it is not beceause I have one, what most people are unaware off, the corsair HX series is actually a re-badged Seasonic! It is very rare they go faulty, hence their reputation.

Excellent PSU's, although I had one kill two fully working systems, thats one thing a PSU should never do, but I guess everything carrys a certain risk especially when faulty. I guess one way of knowing you have a good PSU is if it does blow after a few years use it doesnt take anything else with it.
Re: IP35Pro wont stay on, was working fine?
PC Power & Cooling are probably the best - but even they can be faulty, just there is a lower chance but that chance is still there.
It's always worth making sure :)

Actually their not just re-badged. Their made to Corsair's specifications by Seasonic. Thats the word from Corsair.
Re: IP35Pro wont stay on, was working fine?
I have the same problem with IP35 Pro, Q6600 and Kingston HyperX chips, bios is v14 and I know the CPU is fine, looks it might be an issue with the Q6600 and the IP35 Pro.
Tested with two IP35 Pro boards and same result with both.
