Re: Unable to overclock Q6600 over 2.8 on a FP-IN9. GRRRRRRRRR

Bos.15 seems to give more OC room with the Q6600 Prime stable for 3hours at 3GHz...................

    Settings

    Fsb - 1333MHz (Quad)
    Vcore - 1.4V (1.33V After Vdroop)
    NB - 1.41V
    Cpu Vtt - 1.28V
    DDR 2.1V
    LDT x 2
Ram UNLINKED at 800MHZ - Losend the timings to 5-5-5-15-2T (SPD 4-4-4-12)
Full load temps w/ Arctic Freezer 7 Pro - 50c
    System Temp - 29c - Antec 900 case 4x120m fan & 1x200m fan all set to low.
PWM temp - 58c - Is this too high? If not whats a safe limit?
40x10mm Chipset fan - Mounted on the chipset for extra cooling.

Temps are all fine and within spec so that should not be an issue.

Will changed ram settings back to 4-4-4-12 or push for 900/950MHz at 5-5-5-15 if it passes prime for 4+ hours and 3x loop of 3Dmark 06.

Will post back later if i find these settings to be stable and IF i can push it further (Be happy w/ 3GHz though) I hope it stays stable at 3GHz but i doubt as i have searched long and hard on the net and cannot find many ppl with over 2.8GHz on the 650i. Am hoping w/ bios.15 (w/ FSB1333MHz support) to be better at OC'in quads. 1333MHz Fsb should not be a problem as the bios.15 updated the mobo to run the new Cpu's at 1333Fsb.

    Fingers Crossed!!!!!!

It failed Prime and would not run 3Dmark 06 so its back down to 2.7GHz Board is being sold and going to get an EVGA 680i A1 as i want to keep Sli for future upgrade. From a few reviews i have read the 680i is alot better than the 650i some people have clocked the Q6600's to 4GHz i knwo all chips ain't the same but it shows its capable.

I'm gonna sell mine as well I think, I've got an IP-35 Pro on it's way, so hopefully 3.8GHz here I come!

680i is better than 650i - still not as good as P35 imo but if you need SLI your choices are limited.

    MSI P55-GD80, i5 750
    abit A-S78H, Phenom 9750,

Post Re: Unable to overclock Q6600 over 2.8 on a FP-IN9. GRRRRRRRRR

I know this thread is alittle old, yet i just HAD to post here.
I dont usually do these forum posts or brag about my "mad skillz" (which i really dont have), so if anybody insists on cpu-z verivications or anything just tell me what and how and I will gladly post.
one last little note - this computer is whisper silent and all cooling is on air.

    system:
    abit fp-in9 bios 15 NB - 1.5v
    intel e6600 stepping B2 Vcore - 1.43, VTT - 1.35
2x1GB crucial ballistix tracers with lots of shiny leds Vdimm - 2.4
    1 x W.D 2500aaks 250GB h.d.
    1 x leadtek px8800gts 320mb
PSU - one brand new corsair VX550, got the same results with a HEC 400TRT, not a bad psu just, well, messy cables small fans and bad amplitude on the rails.
    cooling:
standard gigabyte triton case (two low-rpm and low performance gigabyte 120mm fans - in and out)
1x zalman cnps 9700nt cpu cooler (5.5 quare meters of copper surface, 110 mm pwm fan)
    1x zalman zm-mfc2 digital fan controller +cvs +temp monitor
1x intel stock cpu fan thats simply lying on my 8800 facing upwards underneath my nb blowing air through the heatsink.

    results (stable):
FSB: 426.7 * 4 = 1707 MHz (can get alittle higher - around 1730 but i dont want to push it for daily use)
    CPU: 426 * 8 = 3413 MHz
RAM: 800 MHz (3-3-3-3-1T) <- i cant seem to sqeeze anything on the MHz side with this board, but that latency is sick!

superpi 1M stable, around 14.5 sec.
everest ram bench goes about 10500 read i can't remember the rest but its alittle under the-10k
NOT orthos stable due to ram failure, though i get that even if i drop the timings to 5-5-5-15. i reckon its the memory controller on that NB since this ram is known to be pushed WAY further (micron D9GMH) without a hitch.
    temps under load (orthos)
    ~72c cpu
~ 55 mem (i have a temp diode under the heatspreader from my mfc-2)
~ 56 NB (same caption as above)

It is my honest opinion, that given just alittle active cooling on the NB, this board while not being a world overclocking record breaker is good enough for decent oc'ing.
actually, with alitle love, it is awesome - though it did take me ALOT of time to find its sweetspots.
