IP35 and E2160

hi guys,

trying to sort a problem

my ip35 hates my e2160, and in the last BIOS there was a note of fixing some compatability problems witht he e2160.

does anyone know whwta these problems are, and are there any more to be sorted as my 2160 idles at 50 odd degrees and full load hits its limit of 61degres with ease.

yet wheni plug my wifes e2180 in, it idles at 30 or less, and full load is around 45 @ 3ghz.

wheni have put the e2160 into an asus board the temps seem to be ok again.

is this a problem with the board or the chip??

Without having a E2160 on the test bench I couldn't really say. I will pass the question on to head office and see if they can find out the cause of the problem.

I will let you know when I have more info.

please, the board has BIOS 14 instaled, and i have removed and reinstalled the chip a number of times with only marginal differences in temps.

in the last BIOS note was made about increasing compatability with 2160's, i'd be interested to know in what way

That information is not available in my reports. I think it was to improve stability or to allow higher overclocks but I don't know for sure.

hmmm, i tried my 2160 @ stock speeds with the stock intel cooler, and a zalman 9700, both closed and open case. with each of those at full load it would be 55-60.

as soon as i clocked it to 2.7ghz, it would hit 60+ and stay there, never going higher than 63 according to coretemp.

all heatsink installs were done with AS5, and followed atric silvers instructions

let me know if you can find out why, my wife might want her chip back at some point!
