    BIOS version from EEPROM sticker?

    Hi

My system won't post and I have no ideo which BIOS the mainboard shipped with. Is it possible to read this from the mainboard? I heard that the last two digits on the EEPROM sticker are the BIOS version (in my case 14). Is this true for my IP35-E ?

Which BIOS do I need to run a E8400?

    Here is my system:

    Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
    Abit IP35-E
    4GB G.Skill DDR2 PC2-8000 PQ Series
    Samsung SpinPoint HD501LJ 500GB SATAII

Corsair VX 450W PSU // also tried // Corsair HX 520W

    Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme
    Scythe S-FLEX SFF21F 120mm 1600RPM Quiet Fan

    Gainward 8800GTX

    --------

I have tried running barebones without GPU and HD and once even without memory. I always have the same problem though. The CPU fan will spin for about 3 secs then the system reboots. This repeats in an endless cycle.

I have tried reseting CMOS and refitting the CPU heatsink. I removed the mainboard and run it on cardboard.

My conclusion is that the mainboard is faulty - I will RMA it ASAP. How long do you think it will take?

What is the best way to do the RMA in the UK?

    Thanks

it should run on at least 14 (end of Nov. 2007) & later.
Clear CMOS & try with just 1 DIMM installed plus CPU, GPU & a drive (some PSUs require a certain load across the rails before they will fire up properly).
do you have a speaker attached & if so any beeps?

When did you buy the mobo?
Normally in the first year RMA is initially through your vendor.

    Thanks for the reply!

I bought it about 2 weeks ago from microdirect. The bios should be up to date...

There aren't any beeps. If there is a problem with the CPU it should still beep right? I will try running it as you suggested.

Yes - i have attached a speaker. I ran the setup you suggested but got the same result

Should only take 1.5 weeks to RMA...

Where is the serial number? I found a sticker wich says "warranty void if removed" and code: IP35EECA0052xx (x are digits) Is this the serial?

    thanks
