IP35 Pro Bios 16 CPU Temp issue
Sorry if this has already been posted elsewhere (poke me to the right place if so) but im wondering if anyone has noticed any issues with CPU temp reporting on the Bios 16. Ive got a Q6600 on one of these boards, a tuniq tower 120 and the chip is clocked to 3250. On idle my CPU temps as reported by the bios are 55c the cores being 30 or so, under load CPU temp is 74 Cores are 60 or so.
The reason im doubting is that ive seen a few things in a google search that Bios 16 reports incorrect temps for the CPU....
Any known issues ?

which bios is it best to use then, i'd really like the temp issue corrected, is downgrading to bios 14 an option ?
Re: IP35 Pro Bios 16 CPU Temp issue
I recommend you to use BIOS 16 and install a tool like Realtemp:
Real Temp - New temp program for Intel Core processors - XtremeSystems Forums
It's the best tool to monitor your temps for an Intel CPU.

DO NOT use coretemp as that always seems to be about 10c out specially on any .45 cpu.
Realtemp is great and can easily be calibrated.

Maybe you guys misunderstand my problem. Its not the Coretemps that i think is being misreported, its the actual CPU temp, the one the bios reports. The problem is the bios seems to think the CPU is running at 80c under load which starts the alarm beep and eventual shutdown when its just not running anywhere near that temp.
My coretemps are being reported as fine by coretemp and realtemp, its the CPUCASE value that seems wrong.

Yes, it is a known issue. Next to installing Coretemp also change the alarm and shutdown settings in the BIOS.
You can use Coretemp then to check your correct temps.
Or, install an older BIOS (14) and wait for the next BIOS update.
Re: IP35 Pro Bios 16 CPU Temp issue
I recommend BIOS 14 for the Q6600.
Re: IP35 Pro Bios 16 CPU Temp issue
I bought the IP35 Pro about a year and a half ago but was only very recently able to build a new rig on it.
The board came with Bios 14 preinstalled.
I'm using an Core 2 Quad Q9550 (.45nm) on it.
cpu temp with Bios 14 was reading as 67 degrees celsius.
without changing any Bios settings, i did a CMOS reset, flashed to the latest Bios 17 and booted that 1 up.
Now my cpu temp shows as running at 103 degrees celsius (over 200 degrees Farenheit IIRC), surpassing the default thresholds of warning at 75 and shutdown at 85 (even tho the system is NOT being shutdown strangly enough)! :surprised:
After doing some extensive reading on this 'cpu temp issue' I thought that this issue shouldve been fixed with Bios 7 (m629b17.zip from the Abit global site).
Anyone care to point me into the right direction what to do next?
Will using the Real Temp or CoreTemp tools be sufficient because with this cpu temp issue I can never use Abit's uGuru tool cuz this tool WILL shutdown windows 7 due to receiving so incredibly high cpu temperature!
Thanks a lot (hoping the Abit community is still alive) :help:
Re: IP35 Pro Bios 16 CPU Temp issue
try the version in the EO stepping BIOS thread.

I'll have a look if i can find it, thx :rockon2:
I went back to bios 14 last night to see if that changed anything and with 14 the cpu temp was showing as 67 celsius.
when flashing back to 17 it was again showing as 103.
I know the 103 is BS cuz it is a static figure
I've ran RealTemp and Coretemp, also ran the prime95 stresstest from within RealTemp and the average idle temp per core is about 30ish and i've seen the cores reach somewhere between high 30's and mid 40's under load with stock settings (no OC) :)
I trust those reading far more than what the Bios is showing me thas for sure.
Re: IP35 Pro Bios 16 CPU Temp issue
the m629b_18.bin bios in the E0 stepping thread fixed it for me.
cpu temp is shown normally now and is actually being updated in bios.
I now finally can use abit uguru to monitor my system without uguru shutting it down :)
i'd like to give BUFF a +1 for thanks but i can't find the option
