Hi Guys,
Please can you advise how I can set a default minimum RPM for my CPU cooler fan?
As far as I can see, I can only set it via a temperature range using Fan EQ, or am I missing something?
Thanks for your help, appreciated
cheers

Anyone?
Or is this such a daft question, with such an obvious answer that no-one wants to tell me?
cheers
Hello? Abit support?
May I ask what the point of this particular forum is? Doesn't seem to be offering much help (or care)?
If the answer to my question is so obvious, please, just let me know it (as I can't seem to work it out myself! must be dumb, obviously... )
cheers
unfortunately I don't have an IX38 QuadGT to confirm that uGuru works exactly the same as on an IP35 Pro, AB9 QuadGT etc. although I doubt that it differs significantly.
Can you perhaps explain a bit more clearly exactly what you want to do/achieve though?
e.g. iirc you won't be able to run a fan at under 600rpm without disabling the low fan rpm warning as that's the lowest setting offered iirc.
Hi Buff,
thanks for the reply, I was starting to despair a little
Basically, all I want to do is set my CPU fan to spin at 50% and then ramp up as CPU temperature increases...
My problem is that I think my CPU sensor temp is out of whack, as an example it's currently reporting a ludicrous 20C (which is below the current ambient temp in my room )
So I can't use the Fan EQ to set a low range (since the lowest setting it allows is 25C...)
I've tried setting my reference point as the System temp (which uGuru is reporting as higher), but this doesn't seem to work either (at the moment my system temp is 30C, I've set Fan EQ to spin my CPU fan at 50% when System temp is > 25C, so why the blingin heck isn't my CP fan spinning??)
I've gone ahead and ordered a seperate fan controller now to hopefully sort this out, but I'd still like to know just what I can actually do with the motherboard and uGuru...
cheers
is the CPU fan not spinning at all (do we know that the fan works?)?
is it a 3-pin or 4-pin fan, on the CPUFan header & that set appropriately in the BIOS to 3/4-pin (if IX38 offers that option)?
BIOS version? you might want to try 14 if you aren't on that already.
CPU fan works fine, when I can get uGuru to spin it up (also, works fine if I plug it onto any of the Auxilary fan headers, goes straight to 1200RPM...)
It's definitely plugged into the CPU fan header as well... Haven't seen an option in th BIOS to specify 3/4 pin fan (it's a 4 pin fan btw)
I think my BIOS is revision 12, not 100% sure on this (where do I check)?
cheers
on the bottom of the POST screen you will see a long alphanumeric string ending -xx, where xx will be 1 of 10, 11, 12, 13 or 14 & that is the abit BIOS version.
Alternatively if you open FlashMenu it will tell you.
Other apps like Everest will also give you the date of the BIOS & you can cross ref. that against
http://www.abit.com.tw/page/en/mothe...pPRODINFO=BIOS
which fan is it?
tensim (28-07-2008)
It's a Xigmatek fan (comes stock with the HDT-S1283 cooler).
According to Everest it's BIOS version 12 (10/01/2008).
Will the newer BIOS fix my problem do you think?
cheers, appreciate your help!
there looks to be a fair no. of fixes in BIOS 13 & 14 so whilst it may not fix your CPU problem (but then again it might) it's possibly worth an update anyway.
Cheers Buff, I'll update my BIOS and let post again once it's done
thanks again for taking the time to reply
Actually, one more thing... Do I need to update the BIOS sequentially (ie 13 and then 14) or can I just update to 14 straight away?
thanks
you can go straight to 14.
I recommend flashing in DOS from a floppy or USB memory stick.
whilst FlashMenu should work it's inherently riskier to flash in Windows & consequently there are more failed flashes that way (not just abit - check Asus, DFI, Gigabyte, MSI etc. forums & you will find similar advice).
