    Unhappy Abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLI + 4GB + QX9650

    Hi!

I am really new at this forum and with Abit Mobo's.

Before everything, this is my rig:

    Abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLI
    Q6600 CPU
4GB OCZ Sli Ready 800Mhz RAM
    bios ver 1.6
    EVGA 9800GT
Vista Ultimate SP1 32bit (soon moving to 64bit)

    My question is:

1- How I do to see the full 4GB? I've been reading 14 pages of this forum and everyone says that getting the SP1 I should see it, but I can only see 3.35GB!

2- I recently win - in a company lotto - a QX9650. The abit website says that it is supported, but every time that I install it, this is what happens:

It post, then start loading Vista and then stucks there for some seconds and a BSOD comes up so fast that is hard to press the "pause" button quickly enough to see the message.

Any ideas? I haven't OC it yet as long as I haven't received the water cooling kit yet.

Any help would be very, but very welcome.

    Thanks in advance.

with 32-bit you aren't going to see 4Gb as the OS will reserve some RAM for adressing installed hardware - at 3.35Gb you are probably seeing fractionally more than most.

try http://www.abitshop.eu/bios/m624b_18.bin but you aren't going to be able to get much of an fsb oc out of a 1333fsb quad - no 650i SLI mobo will (not just abit's).

    Re: Abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLI + 4GB + QX9650

    Great!

Thanks for the support. My questions now are:

1- Will I be able so see the full 4GB on Ultimate 64bits?
2- How some Vista SP1 32bits users are able to see 4GB?
3- With this new Bios (1.8), would I be able to use the QX9650?

    Thanks for the support.

    PSDT.

I've never made an OC before so, if someone has an already written review, or have some useful dummy link to go forth, it will much appreciate.

    Angry Re: Abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLI + 4GB + QX9650

I need to add a note: that 1.8 version just crash my pc! Now my bios only says wrong sum, system Halt

I don't have a floppy drive to go back to 1.6 (I will have to start looking for it) and it is not reconizing my Usb (patched as a floppy drive) to boot from it.

    any ideas?

    Re: Abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLI + 4GB + QX9650

    Have you cleared CMOS?

& if you have remember that it will have reset all your settings incl RAM voltages so try going down to just 1 DIMM.

see http://www.theraptorpit.com/forum/in...showtopic=2628 for flashing BIOS incl. from USB memory stick.
http://pages.sbcglobal.net/jefn/bootblock.html for some other possibly relevant info if you have a bad flash.

re. 4Gb on 32bit iirc in 1 of their updates MS changed the behaviour of it's memory reporting so that it now reported installed RAM rather than available RAM.

    Re: Abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLI + 4GB + QX9650

I recommend that you flash under DOS mode, for me BIOS 16 only work well after q DOS Flash, and CLEAR CMOS.

    Good Luck !

    Arrow Re: Abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLI + 4GB + QX9650

Well... I went to the closest PC store and fortunately, they still had a floppy drive on sale (the last one they said) and a PS2 keyboard.

I made a DOS boot-up disk with the 1.6 bios version and it fix it.

    To answer some questions:

    - Yes, I did clear the CMOS, even unplug the power for 1 minute. I did it several times.

By the way, my chip is a Phoenix, not an Award... I found that out after my pc came back to life.

    Thanks for your help people.

Still, no idea if I can use a QX9650?

Forget about this, I wrote my reply before reading BUFF answers. Thanks by the way.

    I will try again tonight.

One more thing... probably sounds dummy but... where I can type my signature?

    Re: Abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLI + 4GB + QX9650

So did you tryed to flash BIOS 18 under DOS mode (CLEAR CMOS after flash)? The crash erros continue with your QX9650 loading Vista?

    See ya !

    Re: Abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLI + 4GB + QX9650

Well... to give an end to this story... I couldn't make my QX9650 to run properly, even with the 1.8 bios version. So far, I'm goin' to overclock my q6600 to 1333Mhz (I think I can...).

Thanks for all your help mates!
