SATA HDD problem on NF7S V2

Hi there

As title says

I was running XP SP3 on my machine using a 40gb HDD on IDE with a 150 GB HDD using the onboard SATA.

In my wisdom I decided to get a new HDD so bought a Samsung 1tb HD103UJ. Only to find it was SATA 2. So I mounted it in a Dell machine and downgraded it to SATA 1 using Samsungs software from their website.

When I plug the new drive in my boot up freezes at the SATA page with the Samsung disc drive named.

So after searching I found that Nvidea does not support the Samsung and to get a SATA PCI card. I have installed the PCI card and the drive, however the boot up still freezes. I have disabled SATA in the BIOS, but still the same.

Any ideas of how to solve this please.

using SATA on the NF7-S V2 has nothing to do with nVidia, SATA support on it is via an onboard SiL 3112 controller.

Sorry I meant SII3112.

Thanks for the link, but it still does not explain why my new drive plugged into my PCI-SATA board locks up my boot sequence.

i am using samsung 2504 c 250 meg sata 2 drive ok with this board-had to upgrade SiL 3112a controller bios to version v4284-and works ok-and using last version of motherboard bios v2.7-i can upload this motherboard bios v2.7 with the latest v4284 sata bios itegrated if you want to flash your motherboard bios.

remember to flash from dos using bootable floppy disk(less chance of flash fail) --install sat driver (included)from floppy disk using f6 at beginning of installation
