Abit AB9 & Forsa GeForce 9800GT

Hi,

I've have quad intel 2.4 64bit & 4GB 800MB DDR2
With Asus Geforce 7600GT (256MB) = works fine
With Forsa Geforce 9800GT (512MB) = BIOS don't boot, digital BIOS post on mobo shows: "90"

I send in gfx card to service, get it back tagged as working. Bah.

Is there any compability problems with GeForce 9800 & Abit AB9? Fan on gfxcard spinn, have connected the 6pin from powersupply (500W) to gfx as well. No BIOS beeping.

(Abit AB9 mobo has PCI-Express 1.0/1.0a support only)
(Forsa 9800GT is PCI-Express 2.0 but said to be backward compatible with 1.0)

I have the AB9 Pro, had it running fine with an 8800GT which is the pre-die shrink ver of the 9800GT. I currently have a 260GTX in the same mobo so it can handle it although I did have to plug a cable into the molex on the mobo for additional power. Post your current bios version, also have u tried a cmos reset, its suprising how many things that fixes .

Award Bios 9.0. Complete µGuru initial processAWARD BIOS take over booting job 1. Power on -> Stop at 9.0.2. 0.0.-> 8.3. -> 9.0.
Award BIOS initial stop processing
1. OC too high 2.BIOS dead
1. Clear CMOS 2.Restore default setting for BIOS3. Replace BIOS chip 4. Send to RMA

So d3fiant is suggesting the right way to hopefully resolving the problem. Clear the CMOS a few times if doesnt initially work as it may not clear first time. Good luck

My battery was dead earlier but I bought new one + power supply to get rid of any of those probabilities. Still same problem, new battery, cleared cmos, tried with extra power on mobo. Still stuck at post code 90. When I go back to my ASUS GF 7600GT it's all fine again.

Maybe Forsa is cheap because there isn't an testing department.

K can you post the specs for your PSU ie make model and 12v+ line.
So you have a 7600GT that posts fine hmm can you test the video card in a friends comp?

I could but don't want to bother them about it, I just sent it in to service & they tested it ok.
My power supply is "AXP 500W".
