So this is weird man....
I upgraded to a Q9650. I had bios v14.
Everything seemed to go smooth, until I powered down. When I turn the PC on from a cold boot it wont post. It starts to but cuts out (like the power went out). It does this in different places and seems to come after the verifying dmi screen. If I reset the bios to defaults, most of the time I can get into windows. Then its fine.
Based on this I updated to the beta E0 bios going around (http://forums.hexus.net/1620539-post26.html). Now windows sees the correct cpu and all seemed good. It ran all night when I left it on. Turned it off and same issue. I have a beefy 750w PSU and its so weird that when I get a good boot its fine. I think it may have something to do with the OCZ Reaper DDR2 settings but Im not sure. Any ideas? I know another person on this board is running th same CPU. I just think maybe the right DDR voltage settings with this CPU may be the key.
These are my ddr settings:
tcl = 5
trcd= 5
tRP= 5
tRAS= 15/18
tRFC= 54-60
tWR= 6/Auto
tWTR= Auto
tRRD= Auto
tRTP= Auto
Command Rate= 2T
Voltage= 2.0V
These are my options for DRAM, they are located under DRAM speed (CPU : DRAM):
1:1.00 = 1333:667
1:1.20 = 1333:800
1:1.25 = 1066:667
1:1.50 = 1066:800
1:1.66 = 800: 667
1:2.00 = 800: 800
Under voltages control there is DDR2 Voltage, set to 2.0 and there is DDR2 reference voltage which is auto.
