Abit AN8 Ultra - Shutting Off Randomly - uGuru Post Code 21 Not in Book

HI everyone,

I am hoping someone can help me out. I have an Abit an8 Ultra board that has been shutting off lately at random intervals. Complete shut off no blue screen. Immediately I thought it was the power supply so I picked up another one and that failed to fix the problem. I have reset the CMOS and replaced the CMOS battery.

Only thing I can see is that uGuru is showing a Post code of 21 when I am booted into windows xp sp3. I don't remember that being the normal uGuru post code. I don't even see that in my manual either.

I then rebooted with safe mode and noticed that once fully booted uGuru would show FF which is what I believe was normal.

Anyone have any insight?

abit doesn't exist anymore so abit Support doesn't come here anymore ...

iirc (don't have my own documentation to hand as it is undocumented in abit manuals) 21 is perfectly normal when you have something like the uGuru UI (or other monitoring utility) active. In safe mode you wouldn't have this running so would just get FF.

Thanks for the reply Buff. Thought Abit was still doing tech till end of the year.

Those knuckleheads took down there support boards and probaby all the answers to there products issue.

afaik they are doing warranty work until that runs out so presumably through 2010 as well.
the support staff obviously has been much reduced though so they don't have time to come to places like this anymore.

unfortunately there was a tremendous amount of knowledge on record there which has been lost as a resource ...
