2nd PCI-e slot on Abit IP35 Pro XE

I have a graphics card installed in the first slot of an IP35 Pro XE, and I'm having driver problems with an LSI20320IE PCI-e (4X) SCSI card installed in the second PCI-e slot. The second PCI-e slot can be used for a second graphics card in slave mode, and I had assumed that it could also be used as a standard 16X slot. But the card manufacturer's support team has advised that a slot that can be used for a slave graphics card cannot be used for any other purpose.

Can anyone provide any definitive information originating from Abit as to whether the second PCI-e slot can operate as a standard PCI-e slot?

can't provide any definitive information for the XE but usually abit was 1 of the more RAID card friendly mobo manufacturers.
certainly many of their other mobos would run a RAID card in the 2nd physical PCI-E x16 slot.

Thank you for the reply. That's very helpful.

The problem that I'm having is that, with the driver installed, WXP either takes a long time to shut down, or fails to shut down at all. I am using the card for a tape drive. I have been able to use the card to make a backup, and (so far) if I keep the driver disabled when not actually using the tape drive, WXP shuts down OK. My feeling is that if it can go so far as to make a backup, the motherboard cannot be the problem, and it has simply to be a driver issue.
