Can't boot Vista DVD when in Raid 0 on IP35 with SATA DVD
Halp, guys!
I'm trying to build RAID 0 on my Abit IP35 with 2 WD VR 150GB disks. I also have a DVD on SATA. When the array is built and all settings in bios done (boot sequence, etc.), so a fresh install of Vista x64 can be done, the DVD won't recognize the disk. When I switch back to IDE (from RAID) all is cool and the DVD sees the disk and starts installation.
I remember that when I switched my DVD from and old ATA drive to a new SATA one, I had to disable Jmicron JDB386 controller in BIOS so that the DVD could work. I've tried disabling and enabling it, but no go. I also tried using an old ATA DVD drive but it's the same thing - won't see the disk. The Vista disk is genuine, almost brand new and works otherwise. I tried placing the DVD SATA cable in different sockets bu no go. I haven't done it with HDD SATA cables. I'm now running the system on one drive, everything is fine.
I'm using the newly released bios for E0 Intels as I have a PDC E6300 2.8, and the latest official BIOS would show 98 C degrees. Of course I can go back to 18 if that's needed.
Specs:
IP35
E6300 @ 3.5
4 GB RAM
2 x WD VR 150GB
HD4770
SB Audigy 2 ZS
FSP HLN 350W
Please tell me what I'm doing wrong. I've read lots of topics here but haven't found a similar one.

are you selecting the correct device in the boot priority order?
Not the generic SATA CD/DVD or whatever it has but if you scroll right down through the options very near the bottom you should find a specific ID for your particular optical device.

As I was reading thru similar topics here I found a similar piece of advice but unfortunately I only can choose the generic SATA CDROM. My drive is ASUS DRW-2014L1T. The only odd thingy in the bottom of the list is sth called "B04 D00 Yu" but when I selected it is seems to be some LAN thingy.

The 2nd from the bottom is the B04 D00 Yu thingy. Its' definitely not the DVD, I checked. It's sth Yukon Marvel sth., which would mean it's LAN related.
EDID - one more thing - right now the system is installed on a single drive and I can't check if the same boot sequence window pops up when RAID 0 is enabled and configured. Do you think it could be different then? I don't particularly remember but I guess the set of choices was the same. I think I could see if there was an unusual difference there (say, the name of my particular drive).

yes.

BUFF - a big hearty "thanks" goes to you :)
Indeed, when in IDE mode only generic SATA CDROM shows up in the boot menu. When RAID 0 is enabled and configured - lo & behold - another option shows up in the boot menu, being the specific name of the drive (P2 ASUS in my case), and that's what I had to select. Then, the process goes as smoothly as ever. Nothing else had to be played with - only the proper boot drive. Pity that the new, specific drive shows up 2nd from the bottom and is originally hidden in the selection window. One has to scroll down - which, simple as it may be, is not always obvious :/
Anyhoo, all is cool now, thanks to you :)
