Abit IP35e wont boot after power off.
Hi
Praying someone can help me here.
I am having problems with my PC. It is taking an age to boot up from a cold start.
Once it boots up everything runs fine not a single problem, if i reset it, reboots first time. If i power off however, even for 3 mins or so it will take a while to boot up.
I have done all the usual troubleshooting but what interested me was that if i tried to boot up with just a single 2gb RAM stick it would start instantly no matter which of my 2 ram sticks i used but once i put the other stick in the problems would start again. I used them individually in all RAM slots on the mobo and all ok with a single stick.
Current Spec :
Q9450 @stock
Abit IP35-e mobo with latest BIOS (18)
4 gb ddr2 ram, PC5400 OCZ
w7 64bit premium
512 meg, 4850 gfx
320 gig Sata HD
700w PSU
Originally thought it might be my old PSU dying so the 700w PSU is brand new but the problem still remains.
I have upped the voltage in the bios manually to 2.0v last night and when i powered on this morning after 12 hours of it being turned off it came on first time.
GREAT!! or so i thought, went to job interview, came back a few hours later and its taken about 30 mins to boot.
ANY IDEAS PLEASE THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING!!
Thanks

This sounds absolutely identical to my issue:

Surely this can't be a coincidence? Tell me, if you open your case, what does your red 3vsb led look like when you are powering on/off?
Re: Abit IP35e wont boot after power off.
Erm i can only see 2 LEDs on mobo, 1 red, 1 green
Re: Abit IP35e wont boot after power off.
If you are looking at the board from the edge which has the SATA ports on, the 3VSB led is on the top right-hand corner of the ATX PSU socket, between it and the DIMM slots.
Any flashing going on when you power off or put the PC to sleep?
Re: Abit IP35e wont boot after power off.
Both LEDS are solid on when powered on and off when off so they seem to be suggesting nothing wrong.
Re: Abit IP35e wont boot after power off.
I have an IP35 Pro, so not the same exact board, but was having a similar problem. It didn't affect me much since I usually leave my PC suspended, but when I would have to restart or cold boot, it would hang forever, and I'd have to sometimes recycle it multiple times for it to get through POST in any decent length of time... What I ended up stumbling upon was that my USB Hard Drives were set to "Auto" mode in the BIOS. I changed them to HDD Mode, and the PC starts up perfectly every time. I won't say that's the cause of your issue, but it seems to have been the cause of mine. Since I did that, I have rebooted and cold booted multiple times over the last few days, and have had no recurring issues.

I would still try to test with a different PSU. It turned out that was my issue.
