    Ip35 Pro POST problems

    Hi,

I've had this board for two years now, and for the most part had no problem. I bought it as a pre-overclocked system from Overclockers, with a Q6600 and 4x1GB of Crucial Ballistix Tracer DDR2 PC2-8500C5 1066MHz. About 6 months ago i upgraded the graphics card to Radeon HD 4890, and a few months after that I noticed that sometimes the system wouldn't boot up first try, giving me a lovely 'C1' error code. It would eventually turn on, so I largely ignored it.

It got worse over time, to the point where it wouldn't boot using all 4 sticks of RAM, but was mostly happy with 2. As of last night, however, it won't boot to POST at all, randomly giving me C1 codes, or occasionally going from to C5, then 0d and finally 11 (none of which are mentioned in the manual, nor can I find meaning for online).

I've reset the CMOS, and also removed the battery for 5 minutes, but it still won't POST even using only one stick (and I've tried all four in the various slots). I know that resetting the CMOS apparently defaults the RAM voltage to 1.8v, and the memory needs 2.1v, but I can't get into the BIOS to change this.

I have a feeling I need to buy a cheap stick of 1.8v RAM in order to get it to POST and then flash the BIOS, but does anyone have any thoughts on the matter?

Have you got another PSU to test it with?

Sadly not, I might be able to source one though.

C1 is a memory error & Ballistix has a bit of a reputation for failing - try some other RAM.
