Help: AB9 Pro Processor Upgrade Fail

I am attempting to replace my E4300 processor with a E6300. The Abit website indicates that this processor has been verified to work. I updated the bios to the latest 22 prior to replacing the processor. However, the E6300 won't POST; I get a C1 code from the mobo. I haven't changed any of the other hardward. I RMA'd the processor back to Newegg and got a new one. Same problem. My old E4300 still works fine with this mobo. I'm not a big hardware enthusiast...just a Joe that wants a little mo' power. Help! Anyone have any ideas?

which E6300 do you have (the older C2D version or the newer Pentium version)?
The older 1 should run but the Pentium version isn't supported by any abit BIOS (you could possibly get someone to hack it for you though).

    MSI P55-GD80, i5 750
    abit A-S78H, Phenom 9750,

I had no idea that there was more than one version! I just purchased the CPU, so it must be the newer one. It is labeled Pentium(R) Processor E6300, 2.80 GHz, Core 45nm, 1066 Mhz FSB, LGA775 Socket, 2 MB L2 Cache, 06 PCG. Why the heck would they make a different CPU and keep an old name?

Anyway, I think that I'll buy a newer Gigabit MB since I can't return the CPU without a 15% restocking fee. Is there a market for used Abit MBs? Thanks for your help.
