Boot USB drive on Abit ix38 quad gt

How do I get my usb device to show in the BIOS so I can boot from it? I'm thinking this may be a bug and if so I really doubt they will ever get around to fixing it.

I'm not seeing anything that resembles a hard drive. Other than the real hard drives.

Re: Boot USB drive on Abit ix38 quad gt

    It's a PNY 8gb Attache flash drive.

I know it works, because it boots from my laptop. It's a linux distro called backtrack that is on it.

The only thing that I'm thinking is that there is some oddball option in the BIOS that needs switching on, but I checked and double checked and didn't see anything.

    I know that. Look:

I don't see it anywhere in the BIOS. I can assure you that my flash drive is connected. Unless there's some odd ball switch that I'm not seeing, I'm guessing it's a bug.

Am I the only one with this problem?

Re: Boot USB drive on Abit ix38 quad gt

If I scroll further on the third screen I will see the second screen

It should appear in the first screen as that is where my SD card shows up and where it shows up in my laptop.

Re: Boot USB drive on Abit ix38 quad gt

I'm sorry dude, but I don't. I just don't. The USB stick is not showing in the BIOS. Even if there were additional entries it doesn't matter because it would show in the BIOS option menu, "Hard Disk Boot Priority."

It sounds like you are having the same problem as I had. Check out this thread (with the solution):

Re: Boot USB drive on Abit ix38 quad gt

I had the same problem and this works for me:

Go to advanced cmos feature>hard disk boot priority.
Set the usb device priority here
Set hard disc as first bot device
    and that's it
