I think the chances of the AMD Phenom X4 series being fully compatible is slim. You may find you will have memory errors, incorrect temps, no CPU ID listed in the bios.

I hope this helps and if you do try it please post the results it would be nice to know if these motherboards have future upgrade paths.

Maybe I am completely wrong but the 9850 IS listed in the cpu compatibility list.
So with Bios 11 or later it should run, right ?

Edit :
Ok, it seems to run, but question is how long. The 9850 has a TDP of 125W, this could be too much for the board, especially when overclocking.
So only CPU´s with a TDP up to 95W are recommended.
