AW9D-MAX Hangs on C1 (memory) have I broken something?
had this board for a few years now with no issues, updated to the latest 17 bios and thought I had a spare couple of 1gb ddr2 400 pc6400 ram modules which i "thought" had slipped into the dimm slots no problem (later found out they were ddr2 400 pc3200 but 178 pin not 240 pin silly me) so of course tried booting up and it halted at C1 error meaning memory issue, so I promptly powered off etc and removed the ram leaving the original ones in and tried again.....halted at C1 again..
I tried an overnight battery out and cmos jumper routine to see if that would help but no dice still got C1 error next day.
I obtained a new stick of pc6400 ddr2 ram and removed my old ram and tried it in every dimm slot but always getting the C1 memory fail error.
So I am now left wondering if it was the bios update that failed...or me trying to fit a 178 pin ddr2 ram into a 240 pin slot that damaged something on the board....or did the bios get corrupted in the update?
I don't want to bin the board unless I have to so I have ordered a new bios chip off ebay (the company flashes chips to order for most systems) and am hoping that it might cure my issues, I will post back if it works but in the meantime do you guys think it could be a corrupted bios or something more serious?

OK tried new bios chip today along with new memory and system still hanging on C1, I can only suspect I've damaged the mobo so time to get a new one :(
Re: AW9D-MAX Hangs on C1 (memory) have I broken something?
I've been trying for a while now to fit a Q8400 Quadcore processor into my AW9D max using Bios 17 and i was getting C1 errors from just doing that... i know my RAM is sound i've been using it for ages yet when i drop my old processor back in (a Old P4 D series chip) it runs fine... now in the manual it states a C1 error is related to memory yet it was my new procssor that was causing this error to apper... did you change your processor at all?
and also bare in mind that the latest Bios out atm is unofficial version 18...
i've updated to this myself but still have yet to test my Q8400 out on this new bios since i'm lazy and my heatsink is a pain in the arsed to remove and fit lol

reading further into the documentation of the board and C1 errors it listed either - faulty memory, gfx card issue, damaged DIMM slot or Bios issue, I think in my instance I may have damaged a DIMM slot as everything else has been running fine for the past 5 years, I ended up ditching the board (I still have it) in favour of a Gigabyte GA-EP45T-UD3LR and apart from upgrading to DDR3 ram all other original parts were used from my abit set up and theres a marked performance increase.
