    IP35 Pro boot memory scan?

I have been messing around with BIOS parameters because I was trying to get the front adio jack to work. It does not work using Realtek's HD Audio, so I decided to try and get AC97 working and see if that fixes the problem. I am still working on this problem.

But meanwhile, the IP35 Pro has started delaying about one minute at boot time while it is apparently scanning memory, according to the LCD code..

The LCD shows a code 52 [Test all memory (clear all extended memory to 0)]

There does not seem to be any BIOS parameter for turning memory scan at boot on/off that I can locate.

So I am mystified why the machine has started doing this. I have tried clearing the BIOS multiple times, power off's/on's, etc. all w/o any luck.

Anyone have any ideas on this?

Look for "Quick Power Self Test" under advanced BIOS features I think. Can't reboot right now.

Yes, I have looked at that. But I have it ENABLED. From the user manual:

    Quick Power On Self Test
When set to [Enabled], this item speeds up the Power On Self Test (POST) after powering on
the system. The BIOS shorten or skip some check during the POST.

I believe I tried toggling the setting to see what might happen and there was no change. But perhaps I will give it another go. There has to be an explanation.

ok, i just tried it. with that disabled there is a 52 on the led display while memory is tested. maybe you did not save the change.

Re: IP35 Pro boot memory scan?

I checked this evening and yes, I did have the setting as ENABLED.

I tried changing the setting to DISABLED. Doing this, I watched the march up through my 2GB of RAM. But then when it got to the end of memory, it started over again and ESC didn't work (maybe because I am using a USB keyboard?). So I had to shut the machine off.

Since Enabled and Disabled didn't seem to work right, I decided to reflash the BIOS (17 b05). After successfully doing this, I cleared the BIOS and then restarted. I expected my saved BIOS entries to be gone (after the reflash). They were not! Why? How?

Oh well, I guess this is one of the reasons why ABIT is no longer in business. Their hardware was undependable and their BIOS's were poorly programmed. But why kick a dead dog?

I rebooted, restoring the BIOS to as it was originally. Looks like I'll just have to suffer through a one minute boot up delay until I replace this mobo.

You have to force the flash to completely rewrite the bios, otherwise it just updates leaving your settings.

If you want to do a complete bios reset you need to make sure it is fully discharged by disconnecting the power and leaving the jumper in the clear position for about 5 minutes.

Also because you are using a beta version of the bios, you may experience issues as it was entended to be used for testing and may contain bugs.

AFAIK, BIOS 17 b05 was the final BIOS release from ABIT for the IP35 Pro. Was/is there another release? Where is it?

Sorry you maybe right. It's been a while since I have dealt with abit bios releases.

Although I am sure the that the b05 was the beta version and not the final release which was M629B_17. but it maybe the same just named differently.

Where did you download the bios from?
