Need help with Bios Update for ABIT IS7 Mobo
New to this forum - I need some help (advice) updating my bios. Been to Abit's website only to sucome to there broken links & files that do not work. Techsupport link is a joke. Here are my specs
IS7-E V 1.1
Bios Ver 6A79AA1BC-16
Intel 3.0 / 1mb cache
2GB OCZ dual channel Ram - PC3200
Boot screen states CPU unworkable or Changed - bios settings can't be saved with F10 - just a blinking Y
from Abit's website bios version 19 repairs the cpu unworkable error but all there bios files are exe not bin files.
I am not able to extract any files even though I was able to download it.
The latest bios update is version 24.
If someone could help this old keypuncher literally - there was a card for everything !!!
Thank You

You've been to a clone site / backup. And techsupport is a joke because it doesn't exist anymore. Abit completely shut their doors (last website gone) in february 2012 after not producing a single motherboard since 2009 or so.
Mirror of their FTP server is here:
ftp://91.121.194.115/pub/download/bios/is7-e/
Those .exe files are self-extracting archives. If you tried getting them from the abit.ws clone-site, they're just dummy files of a few bytes. No wonder you can't open them.
Made a .zip out of the latest version (2.4 or 24).

Re: Need help with Bios Update for ABIT IS7 Mobo
Just Flashed the bios on the Is7 Motherboard & it worked like a champ. Thank You very much for your help. Bios update fixed my issues. I have 2 of these MOBO's & still work horses for me. To bad ABIT went out of business - they made a good MOBO. If their clone site can support dummy files why can't they just put in the real deal?
Thanks again

Probably because the downloads on the Abit website were something like 19GB in total. Quite a bit more than the entire website itself.
I wish I knew who runs the abit.ws website-clone/backup. Shouldn't be too hard to change the download links on there to the ones on my FTP backup (especially since the folder structure is the same as the original was).
Glad it worked out with the BIOS update. I still have a few Abit boards too.. from a Slot1 BX6 (with all capacitors replaced..), over a Socket 478 IC7-G (i875) all the way up to the IP35 Pro with a Core 2 Quad Q6600.
