Unhappy Abit IP35 Pro C1-->9.9 code error. Help

So my older brother bought a new computer and I decided to take his old one, which is this Abit IP35 pro.
I used it for quite awhile as this motherboard is about 4-5 years old.
My brother also owned an alienware m11x(laptop) and I swapped to the laptop for a year or so.
Deciding to come back to the desktop so I can do some major gaming and upgrades,
I encountered the c1 error and 9.9 error.
The screen is completely black and i thought the video card was broken(Which it really was too).
I swapped into another graphics card

    XFX HD-667X-ZHF3 Radeon HD 6670 1GB 128-bit

Afterwards, I tried turning on the computer but still the screen remained black(Screen not broken).
Then I realized that the green numbers first starts
    0.1.
    Turn on computer
C1 (Stayed in C1 for a good 30 seconds or so)
Then onward to 9.9 (Turns off).

I've read and did research that it could've been the ram or video card.
As I swapped rams and the video card, nothing works and is still the same.
    Help?

Re: Abit IP35 Pro C1-->9.9 code error. Help

Well, C1 is the code shown when its doing the memory detect, and 9.9 means power off.

So my guess would be that the RAM is either faulty, the memory sockets have gone or the BIOS settings for the RAM need manual tweaking.

The board is quite fussy over memory, I had no end of trouble trying to get some sticks to work, so much so that I gave up and stuck with the ones I had.

Is the memory in there new or the stuff your brother was using?

It shouldn't power off with a memory error. Look like its shutting down to protect itself. I would start by checking that the heatsink is correctly installed.

With memory errors the motherboard will normally stay on but display either code C.1. or 0.4.

I had problems when I first installed my board several years ago when I set the voltage wrong on the chip. Try booting with a single stick of RAM in, and see if you can get into the BIOS that way

Also you can try clearing the BIOS setting by removing the CMOS battery, using the EZ-switch sometimes doesn't work
