BIOS updates for Intel E0 stepping

    Hi guys,

It has been a while since my last reply, but I have been on holiday for a couple of weeks.

In the meantime we got (finally) BIOS updates to support the new Intel E0 stepping. I uploaded them to our local FTP server.

I will update this thread if we get new updates.

Note it is important to make a CMOS clear after the flash. Then boot, go into the BIOS and load the optimized defaults.

Just to point out that m704b.bin still doesn't resolve the compatibility issue with 4870x2 cards. Black screen still.

I find it quite irritating that your engineers fix one issue without resolving the other.

Can you double-check the link for the IP35 Pro XE? It doesn't seem to be working. Thanks!

Its good to see that abit is not completley dead, but bios which will fix ati X2 cards compatibility is really important, there are lots of people with this issues on various forums, and in effect it will hurt abit sales(if abit still cares about mobo sales) few web sites have either completley removed abit boards from offer, or stated warnings that Ati X2 cards are not compatible.

It really would be a shame not to get fix as i am so far very happy with my X38 board.

    Hello LV.
    Small world.
I just stopped in to let you guys know about that.
The new BIOS does not work with an E8600.
In fact, it barely works with a Q6600.
I flashed back to BIOS 11. That's the one that has always worked best with my Q.

    8.7.
    Tried it twice.
It's easy to swap CPUs in my rig because I have an HR01 Plus cooler. Takes about 20 minutes.
I tried it a second time just to be sure I didn't get a bad flash or perhaps a bad file.
    Powered on.
    8.7.
    Dead in the water.

I should also add that all of the temperature readings were extremely high and my CPU Fan Duty Cycle in BIOS was stuck at 100% on the low side, using the Q6600.
My Core Temp readings are normally lower 30s and UGURU is usually around there too.
With this new BIOS I had something like 62-41-55-40 and stuff like that and UGURU was stuck at 33 the entyre time.

    UPDATE:
Installed my E8600 in my P5QE.
    Perfect.
    Definitely not the CPU.
Hope you get it figured out so that some of our other ABIT brethren will get a chance to try their IP35 PRO with an E8600.
