All have been having some problems installing windows XP on an AB9 Pro, but have been getting STOP errors during windows setup. I have tried just about everything, but have found the answer. During install press F6 for third party SCSI/RAID adapters and put in your Jmicro disk that comes with the board, into the floppy drive. I just learned the hardway that a USB floppy doesnt seem to work during XP setup.

Only some USB floppy drives are supported and I hit this issue myself. I can't post a web link (until I've posted 5 times) but Microsoft address this in knowledge-base article 916196. I own a Sony USB drive and it's not one of the supported ones.
Just a point to note, have you installed your hard-drives in ports SATA8 and SATA9 and also set up the array in BIOS (Ctrl+J to enter) before trying to install Windows?

The following USB floppy disk drives are included in the Txtsetup.sif file and are therefore supported for use during Windows XP installation:
Plug and Play ID USB floppy disk drive model
USB\VID_03EE&PID_6901 Mitsumi

The following USB floppy disk drives are not included in the Txtsetup.sif file and therefore are not supported during Windows XP installation:

You can install the driver from a USB Floppy. You just have to make sure that the BIOS sees the drive as the first floppy drive assigning it drive letter A: To do so you should go to standard CMOS settings in setup and set floppy drives to none. During POST the first USB floppy will then be assigned A:

I'm not planning on using any SATA drives or a RAID setup. (I'm hoping to just use my existing IDE hd.)
Am I going to need to install the drivers? I don't have a floppy drive so is there another way of installing them?

You will need the Jmicron drivers. There are required for the IDE devices. If you don't have a floppy drive then you can use nlite to create a new windows CD with the drivers added.

There is no reason why a IDE hard drive wouldn't work as long as the jmicron driver is installed. But I wouldn't recommend connecting a IDE HDD & a optical drive on the same channel. There are other ways of using IDE HDD, you could connect it using a IDE to SATA adapter
