AB9 Pro problems

Can anyone assist with this??

I have recently purchased
-AB9 Pro
-C2D 6400
-2 x 1Gb Corsair VS 667MHz
-Enermax Coolergiant EG485AX PSU
-Liteon SATA DVDRW

Other components already owned are two SATA HDD's

When I bot up I get graphical distortions on the Post screen, this then dissapears for the remaining screens until the WIN XP splash screen. The splash screen is also distorted. PC then goes blank, nothing on VDU but fans and HDD are spinning. Mobo code reads "FF".

Is there any point in trying the beta Bios release?????

I have had the GFX card replaced as originally it was thought to be faulty.

At one point I was getting "2A" errors but they have now ceased (for now).

Tried CMOS reset and now "C1" error showing.

So tried removing memory and reseating one stick into unused slot - error now "2A" and nothing else happens
So replace both memory sticks and "2A" error still there.
Reset CMOS again and back to original problem "C1" error

i seem to be getting two quick beeps that i think relate to CMOS issue, not 100% though.

All the codes you are seeing relate to memory issues.

Try removing the graphics card and see what code you get.

2A error without GFX card inserted.

What bios are u running? Had a similar problem with the "2A" error code running the 1.5 bios. Never really tried booting to windows with this bios but the boot screen certainly wasn't corrupted.
I'd give a different bios a try if you can, might solve the problem Do you have the molex near the 16* PCI-e slot plugged in? If not might be worth trying, likewise if you do try removing it?

Ive seen this problem a few times now but I have always managed to clear by clearing the cmos a few times. It normally happens when the DDR voltages are too low. If you are using an early bios version then that might be causing the fault.

Using 1.5 Bios that it was shippped with, thats latest isnt it (apart from beta1.6).
Have tried both molex in and molex out.

Thing is that it had the corruption with a 512MB XFX 7950GT XT that I originally purchased, that was thought to be faulty as I plugged my friends Leadtek in and he then got the corruprion and I did not. Scan tested my card and said that there was no fault found but they had heard of incompatabilities between the AB9 Pro and that card. So instead of getting another one of those cards I got the Leadtek to be safe. It now seems to be worse as it would at least eventually boot into windows with the XFX.

This is getting on my nerves now as there is no logical explaination.

Well I am using the latest official bios release so any other ideas. I will be testing the memory tonight with a friends so should find out if thats faulty.

Right tes results are as follows: -

- swapped memory with friends identical memory, no change in problems
- major 2A probs at first so did a rebuild
- rebuild allows me to boot into windows but corruption still exists on bootup
- swapped GFX card with foiends identical card (Leadtek 7950GT)
- My PC will boot up with no corruption
- Friends PC has corruption and subsequent BSOD issues

Now this is exactly the same outcome we had when I had the XFX 7950GF XT and the card was RMA'd. Scan reported no faut found.

Can anyone assist here as this is not making sense.

Surely these tests prove conclusively that the GFX card is at fault.

There seems to be a compatibilty problems with XFX 7950GF XT and the AB9 motherboard. The ab9 & gfx card will function correctly when using a older CPU, but using a C2D will cause corruption and windows errors.

Im am trying to get in touch with XFX and hopfully we can come up with a fix for the problem.

Thanks Sean but I no longer have an XFX card, I now have a leadtek. This is why it makes no sense.

This problem is just so weird, considering our tests it strongly suggests gfx card problems, yet Scan disagreed, my only other idea is that somehow the AB9 Pro is causing temporary damage to the gfx cards, sounds weird but I cant explain it, we have tested every component

I can't do alot at the moment as I don't have access to all my test equipment and technical info. But I will look into it further in the new year.
