    X1300 Graphics Card

I bought an ATI X1300 Pro 256M graphics card for my aging computer, and I can't get the drivers to load. I did a driver search and it turns out the X1300 was notorious for being driver finicky.

The only drivers that I've been able to locate are ATI legacy drivers from the ATI site, and some Dell drivers from CNET, and neither of those worked. My card shipped without a driver CD so that isn't an option. Does anybody have an idea where I can get some drivers that will actually work with my X1300?

You can download the amd help tool here:

    http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownloa...to_detect.aspx

it should find the correct drivers for you.

    Re: X1300 Graphics Card

Thank you for the link. I've already tried the AMD legacy drivers and I couldn't get them to work, and I've got to believe that the AMD Driver Autodetect will direct me to those same drivers, so I'll probably hold off on using the autodetect for now. But if worse comes to worse and I've got no other options I'll give it a shot and see what happens.

If you have drivers installed at the moment start by running the installer again so you can uninstall those drivers then clean out your registry and restart the PC to see if you can use the card with native windows drivers.

    Re: X1300 Graphics Card

Thanks for the tip. I clone my hard drive and after messing with the ATI card I reinstalled a fresh clone copy to get rid any ATI drivers. If I recall I think I tried to use Windows drivers (I'm using XP) for the card, but I don't think it worked. I'll give it another shot to just to make sure.

    Re: X1300 Graphics Card

AMD a few days ago released a driver cleaner utility.

    Re: X1300 Graphics Card

I downoaded some more X1300 drivers from various web sites, and I couldn't get any of them to work.

Perhaps someone could educate me - as a lark I installed the card without any drivers and I adjusted my display resolution, and even though my device manager shows that I'm missing the video controller and video controller (VGA compatable) drivers, everything seems to look and work just fine. Youtube videos even play play normally. Without drivers installed a graphics card shouldn't work that well, should it?

I read on one of the sites that ATI drivers seem to install easier when doing it in safe mode, so that'll be my next project. If I can't get it to work then I'm going to sell the card and get a GeForce and be done with it.

    Re: X1300 Graphics Card

It shouldn't be great, but it'll certainly work.

Have you tried using Windows Update to find a driver?

    Re: X1300 Graphics Card

Yep, I tried the Windows update. No joy. I might place an ad on Craig's List and see if someone in the area has a X1300 driver CD laying around that they'd like to part with and see if that would work.

    Re: X1300 Graphics Card

After hours and hours of messing with it I can't get the drivers installed so I give up. I'll throw the card on Craig's and head over to eBay and check out the GeForce offerings.
