I would like to apologise to the other readers of this forum for the constant crap between my self and you know who.

I think it is fair to say that my posts of recent times have been

    1. very few

    2. not exactly contraversial. i.e when is the card out in PAL and that I will post my thoughts when I get one as to how it.

Are these posts offensive in anyway? NO ONE ELSE HAS SAID SO!!

Yet the person who says he will ignore them manages to twist one into me
being DISHONEST!!(not sure how that works)

I have a combative nature when it comes to discussing things SOMETIMES,

But most of my posts are light hearted. I cannot however allow myself to be

disparaged and NOT SAY something when IMO perfectly simple

straightforward Comments are deliberately misconstrued by someone

who says that he IGNORES my posts.

I have tried to take this to PM to resolve but the person in question INSISTS on bringing it back here.

I will try to rise above it but is not in my nature to take pointless crap for NO apparent reason

To be fair, ATI didn't promise hardware DECODE of MPEG-2 streams. Many graphics card come with hardware MPEG-2 decoder, but some of them require a piece of software to take advantage of the hardware. This is not related to any PCTV card. This has already been extensively discussed about 50 pages ago.

What is your 'Preferred MPEG-2 Decoder' in BeyondTV? And what deinterlacing method are you using (software, progressive software, hardware)?

I don't believe this is possible. You could create a program in the background to respond to buttons pressed on the remote though.

The cyberlink remote is basically a MCE remote with different codes for the buttons.

This link is useful if you want to make a program that can make use of the Cyberlink remote control.

I think that would need to be directed elsewhere (not ATI), since only other makers, not ATI, bundles the cyberlink remote with the card. ATI bundles the Remote Wonder in their branded version of the card (TV Wonder Elite), which is programmable.

    You are right Smahatma...

Andrzej: Can this card be made to output audio and video with no delay? For example, if I connect the MPEG output pin and the YUV output pin, the graph won't play (this is to capture and preview with no delay, but it can't be done).

    Thank you.

ammm i was about to ask something like that, cause i have an nvidia 6800gt and since purevideo is "enable" by the new drivers, i noticed that the card warms up when playing a dvd and really dont remember if watching tv via powercinema causes this.....but in this case are problems about the deinterlacing methods? more quality playback, recording or none of the mentioned LOL, sounds like a jeopardy question

Been following this thread since it started, and finally decided to speak. This info should help some of you.

OK, I am by no means a video wizard, and could care less about ATI MMC 9.(whatever). I have used it in the past, since my first AIW card ($389 US) which was an AIW128 pro. I found it difficult to use, and never could figure out which codec to use, as to not completely fill the largest hard drive made at the time, 4.3gb.

When MCE 2002 came out, I built something similar to a Gateway 710xl. And I then bought an AIW 9600xt. With the 2004 upgrade, I managed to learn a little more about hardware encoding, and bought an E-Home wonder, which was a great card. Which leads me to where I am at now, MCE 2005, And SUSE Linux 9.2. (btw, I wish someone knew a way to make the AIW work good in Linux)

I was one of the first to purchase the Theatrix 550/Elite Wonder (same card btw), to use with 2005, Which works around 30-40% better than my aging E-home Wonder. Which leads me to my next point.

I understand there are a lot of anti-MS people here, that feel they have to be slaves to a $139 US operating system to enjoy the benefits of this card, But if you manage to do some digging, (and I cannot give this information freely, so don't ask) you can get MCE 2005 DIRECTLY from MS for $10 us, and $60 if you want the remote with it. And do what you want with it, after that.

The new drivers made a minor improvement with the quality.

For the Tech curious, my rig specs are these:
    Gateway 710 mce case
    Genuine Intel D865GLC
    2.8ghz Prescott
    2x Samsung DDR400 512mb
    2x WD SATA "Raptors"
    ATI AIW 9600xt
    Theatrix/Elite Wonder
    MCE2005

Thanks for posting in this forum.

Are you speaking of an upgrade to MCE 2005, from some earlier version
of MCE or XP....? Heard of these upgrades, but not sure what they are.

Anyway, if I would have bought a Theater 550, for a kind of a card like that,
I would not be inclined to spend any more dollars, like many others members on
this forum. To make something work as advertised, why should we get taxed....??

By the way, you say of a method to get MCE 2005 from M$ only with $10,
but you have not included complete details.

While I appreciate you post, I wonder what additional information it gives
for the present Theatre 550 users, or those who want to buy it (kindly
dont misunderstand, no offense meant.....only additional detail sought).

By the way, how far are you satisfied with the card, do you recommend it...?

MCE 2005 for $10, but no way to figure out how to buy it or to what it applies? I don't quite know what to do with that information.

    Sorry for the misunderstanding,
The version I got is a full 2 disk set for 2005, XP pro and the 2005 cab files. (not msdn, btw)

While I am very satisfied with the quality of the 550pro, I still am not ready to give up my Tivo w/ a cachecard. The quality of the 550 is still only 85-90% as good as my tivo.

As for the details on where? Well, I am unsure of the legal implications for freely giving out the details. But I can say that buying the OS directly from MS is perfectly legal, and still available.

So I can get MCE 2005 directly from MS for $10 or for $140? I am still lost.

I would like to know how can I change my NTSC card to PAL. Since I've just bought it from Newegg, but I need to travel back to Hong Kong, so I need to know if some one can tell me how to make it work with PAL TV system.

    much thanks!

Buy a new card. NTSC cards can't be converted to PAL.

Certainly the most fool proof method.
