    Question

My main ambition is to watch TV on my 20" widescreen Dell LCD (1680x1050) with the BEST POSSIBLE quality. TV Wonder Pro is what I have now and it works pretty well, IMHO, with Dscaler 4.1.11. I can't even get this quality with T550 so far not to mention Dscaler automatic zoom feature when it detects widescreen video with black horizinatal bars to make 4:3.

I agree that maybe Sapphire T550 is the wrong card for that, but then the question is - which is?

Are you saying that NOBODY has been able to get sound from T550 card so far?

I've started to built a graph in GraphEdit that comes with DirectShow Extras but realized on quite early stages that I need to do some homework in order to proceed.

Anyone here tried to build a graph for T550 card and get video AND sound from it?
    Thanks in advance!

    LOL
DScaler does NOT have support for Theater 550 PRO!
if you try VideoLAN then you get much better quality!

Try using the 'Video Mixing Renderer 9' filter instead of the video renderer one.

    Thumbs up

I got video (with deinterlacing ) and audio working - next step is to get Closed Captions to work.

Below is the graph that does the trick for me -

    Odd,...

ATI's shop.ati.com has a listing for what seems to be a new combo install disc for the "TV Wonder Elite" named:

"TV WONDER™ ELITE INSTALL CD WITH GUIDE PLUS"

Looks like there is finally a version of Guide Plus+ that works with the T550P,....without being tricked into working with the T550P that is

Good job spotting this. Does anyone know if this is a plug-in with Cyberlink? I will not reload Power Enema, so this may be a non-starter.

what? why are you using powercinema when you can ger MediaPortal for FREE! and its has around a billion more funcsons than Powercinema!
and it even gives you a better picture

    download:
    1. Mediaportal 0.1.3 Prerelease
    2. Mediaportal latest CVS
    3. copy the files in the mediaportal-cvs into C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal

or you can just download and install beyond tv 3

    Thanks,…

I vaguely recall an ATI rep stating that they were working with Cyberlink on an EPG project for CPC. I do not know if this is a manifestation of such efforts but I would be cautiously pessimistic in this respect.

One thing I find odd about this,…is that I don’t really recall ever seeing ATI introduce software such as this for a product that didn’t originally ship with it!!!

I mean,…why introduce “Guide Plus+ for the T550P” now and make users pay $12 for the privilege!?!

Is it because they (ATI) are aware that users have found a way to force earlier versions of “Guide Plus+” to work with the T550P!?!

Is it greed or does this version of “Guide Plus+” offer something new other then T550P support!?!

What good is “Guide Plus+” without a supporting product like MMC anyway!?!

Sorry guess I raised more questions then I answered,…

In any case, “Guide Plus+” isn’t much good outside of the USA.

Anyway, I’m on holiday now but I plan on buying an “ALL-IN-WONDER™ 2006 EDITION” card when I get back. It might come with the same version of “Guide Plus+” and I would like to see if the new ATI version of “Studio 9” will work with the T550P.

As I understand it, ATI has to pay a fee to Gemstar for the service. If ATI had bundled it with the card, the price of the card would not have looked as attractive.

I don't use Cyberlink to respond to the comment just above. It corrupts my other ATI software.

We had a question about lag juat at the end of June

Sorry for the delay - but I have been away

I have chased down an answer - see if this helps !

The delay that you refer to would seem to be the lag incurred by switching to a digital audio path, instead of the direct connection to the sound card.

ATI has chosen to go with the digital audio path primarily for MCE support.

It is also relevant that our #1 customer service question on All-in-Wonders is resolved by plugging in the cable to the soundcard !

As for potential delays/stutters, we are constantly improving the performance of the digital audio path.

It is not feasible however for us to provide both the SP (analog cable driver) and NSP/AVStream (digital audio) drivers.

As we move from NSP to AVStream drivers, this expect things to get much better, though we don't have an exact date on when AVStream drivers will be available for existing AIW cards (the R430 AIW will be the first however).

So the short answer is we're working on it, and it will improve with every driver update.

We do not have 'quick fix' however the idea of going back to the old SP drivers is certainly something we can suggest to enthusiasts.

I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if that were true and I suspect that the "Guide Plus+" software itself doesn’t come free to ATI either,..

However, the ATI “TV Wonder Elite” (AKA T550P) has anything but an attractive price IMO,..with or without "Guide Plus+"
