AppleTV
Worth getting now - http://www.appletvhacks.net/
Seems like it might end up being a tasty little homebrew setup.
Would be good to get one - and do the following:
- Upgrade the HDD
- Get XviD working
- Get the Browser working so you can use it on your TV
- Get a USB TV Tuner working to pickup Freeview
Then you have a small, set top box - which has content on it :)
One thing which would be good is to be able to carry your content all over the world and plug in to a TV :)
Meaning yes the Mac Mini has a CD ROM - so? :) this smaller box is lighter and has well oppotunities

Yes I know I'm sure someone can build one cheaper, but this is £199 and is small, light, runs OSX so for all you wanting a system with decent connectivity - HDMI and Component this could well be the starting block

Im a bit confused about this, can you stream video/music etc from other machines to the device to play on a TV etc, or is it just content downloaded from iTunes that can be used?
I must admit, it *looks* quite nice anyway!

It's supposed to be for iTunes content only - and things you have transcoded and put in iTunes - think of it as a Media Extender you can sync your content with - like a iPod but you plug it in to your TV :)
But with people hacking it so it will work with DivX ETC... It's becoming much much more attractive.
We need to get it so you can sync back from it too :)
